5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Record For Anytime..Anyplace...Anywhere., June 20, 2002

I really need to get a c.d. of this, as my album is just about worn out. I don't fit anything like the profile you'd expect for a fan of a Southern rock band, but I like good music, and this album has always been a consistent favorite of mine. I bought it when it first came out, I don't even remember what made me decide to buy it, as I was into New Wave then, which was coming in on the remnants of disco. But the minute I put the needle on this album, I was hooked. I loved it. I must admit, though I found all the songs, then as now, tight and good, it was Dale Krantz' vocals that made this such a great album. I always liked Lynyrd Skynyrd, also, and this band, made up of several of the original L.S. members, had all their musicianship and talent. But adding Dale Krantz' vocals gave them their own unique sound. I recall at the time of this albums release, she was described as a combination of Janis Joplin & Aretha Franklin. Being a huge Janis fan, (Aretha's no slouch, either) I was intrigued about this girl that they dared to compare to her. Though no one can touch Janis to this day, I was very impressed with Dales vocals, the girl is fantastic!, and she can scream a plantive wail almost as good as Janis. She holds her own against the boys, as on such tunes as "Prime Time" and "Don't Misunderstand Me", then, on tunes like "Three Times As Bad" and "One Good Man", gives bluesy/power ballad performances worthy of the best of them. I consider this album, though it was never "mainstream", a classic album, but maybe the fact that it's different and unique is part of it's charm. Anyway, if you're a fan of good music with a Southern Rock twist, and then some, I think you would love this album. There's not a bad song on it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not your typical "southern rock"........., August 12, 2001

NO! NO! NO! This band was NOT Lynyrd Skynyrd resurected! RCB had their own sound, their own feel, and their own magic! That's not to say that there aren't "Skynyrd like" moments here & there (especially in the guitar department), but Skynyrd it most definitely aint. This band truly deserved to be set apart from ANYONE else. I love southern rock, but I just can't throw RCB into the same slot as Molly Hatchet, .38 Special, or Skynyrd for that matter. The musianship, as well as the song writing, is incredible on both RCB's albums. Their music makes you think AND stomp your feet at the same time! While the end of Skynyrd was truly a trajedy, I think the same could be said for the demise of this band. I believe the Rossington-Collins Band had a hell of lot more to give all of us.

5.0 out of 5 stars The South Does it Again!!!!, June 24, 2001

Between Lynyrd Skynyrd and the current Lynyrd Skynyrd band, Gary Rossington and Allen Collins formed this group. With the help of the fantastic Dale Krantz (who is now Mrs. Gary Rossington), this band continues to fire up the Southern Rock scene. For anyone who loves hard-driving Southern Rock, this one's for you! If anyone was a fan of 38 Special, Dale Krantz once did background vocals for them as well. Check out the current Lynyrd Skynyrd Band's DVD, Lyve From Steel Town, Dale is singing background.....

5.0 out of 5 stars A one of a kind band that sounds just as good today., March 29, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Anytime, Anyplace, Anywhere (Audio CD)
I saw this band at the Tangerine Bowl in Orlando Florida the summer of 1980. The only reason they didn't blow the roof off the place was that we were outdoors. A lot of bands have tried to imitate Lynyrd Skynyrd's sound and cash in on the Southern Rock groove. This band is the "Real McCoy" as the opening track so aptly states. The opener, "Prime Time," talks about the period between the crash and this albums release/tour as being "a long, long time. But I believe we are ready." And ready they were. Knowing that no one could replace Ronnie VanZant the boys didn't even try. Instead they picked Dale Krantz, a former backup singer for .38 Special and Gary's Rossington's future wife. Let me tell you, this little lady is as southern as the boys are and can belt `em out with the best. The music sounds like what it's supposed to be, the interaction of two of the best Southern Rock pickers to ever hit the stage. Top it off with Dale Krantz vocals and it's magic. A lot of bands still try and sound like this band, but there's nothing like the "Real McCoy".

5.0 out of 5 stars Post-Skynyrd Southern Rock Excellence, February 24, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Anytime, Anyplace, Anywhere (Audio CD)
Each and every one of these songs harken back to the legendary Skynyrd musical sound , which was still intact at the time of this recording , before the passing of Allen Collins . Dale Krantz' soulful vocals bring it all together on this one . Also of note: This Is The Way , which was their second album , is an excellent set . I haven't been able to find it on CD . Please email me if you have it .

For any fan of Skynyrd or Southern Rock in general, this is a MUST album. Some of the best music the Skynyrd members have ever made. Dale Krantz is the perfect addition to the boys!!!!! Not a weak song on the album! I saw their opening nite of this albums tour { Myrtle Beach S.C. 1980 } went and saw them twice more before the tour was over. Great Album!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars If you like "Street Survivors", you'll get into this CD!, July 1, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Anytime, Anyplace, Anywhere (Audio CD)
"Anytime, Anyplace, Anywhere" is the first album that the surviving members of Lynyrd Skynyrd did after their jet crashed in '77. The music sounds reminiscient of the "Sreet Survivors" album. The sounds of "Don't Misunderstand Me" and "Misery Loves Company" remind me of "What's Your Name", only better! The band chose Dale Kranz, who sounds a little like Janis Joplin, to replace lead singer Ronnie Van Zant. The Rossington-Collins band was well on their way to making it big when Allen Collins' wife died while giving birth, and this put an end to their efforts. I'm thrilled to be able to purchase this CD through amazon.com.

5.0 out of 5 stars Out of the ashes rose a Pheonix, a fleeting moment in history, March 31, 2007
This review is from: Anytime, Anyplace, Anywhere (Audio CD)
Recorded in a cold February, 1980, at Adobe Studios in El Paso,Texas. The survivors of Skynyrd had holed up to mentally heal and see if they could even physically play anymore, much less capture the essence of their combined talents on tape. Dale Krantz was added on vocals, due to an early decision to not even go in the direction of trying to replace Ronnie Van Zant. The ensuing album was pure creative magic! Dale, shy to write lyrics, was coaxed out of the corner and surprised everyone with her hidden talents. Her singing is very distinctive and shines on every single song on the album. Rossington,Collins, and Barry Harwood actually produced this album,BTW,and that adds to the magic, too.
This CD is worth every penny that is being asked by the sellers.

This is a little known classic unless you are a SKYNARD fan. The vocals and Skynardesque stylings are unmistakable. A must have for any collector.
