Joan Price, M.A., is a health and fitness writer, professional speaker, and line-dance and fitness instructor whose specialty is helping beginning exercisers start and stick to an exercise program. She lives in Sebastopol, California.

Lawrence Kassman, M.D., F.A.C.E.P., is the director of the emergency department at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Waterville, Maine. He is board-certified in emergency medicine. An avid recreational athlete, Dr. Kassman played varsity soccer in college, has run a marathon, bicycled across the country twice, and played competitive tennis. He lives in Albion, Maine.

More About the Author

I am an author, speaker, advocate for ageless sexuality, fitness professional, and contemporary line dance instructor.

For twenty-two years, I taught high school English in Italy, New York, and California. Then, in 1979, after a near-fatal automobile accident, I realized that I owed my life to my exercise habit and had a mission to share with others the joy of movement. I left teaching, became an exercise professional, and wrote five books about fitness and health, including The Anytime, Anywhere Exercise Book: 300+ Quick and Easy Exercises You Can Do Whenever You Want! and hundreds of print and online articles.

After one marriage, several serious relationships, and more flings than I wish to count over decades of single life, I found the love of my life, artist Robert Rice, when I was 57 and he was 64. We were each other's Great Love, and we were together for seven years until cancer took Robert from me.

The power, intimacy, and spiciness of our relationship led me to write Better Than I Ever Expected: Straight Talk about Sex after Sixty at age sixty-one to acknowledge the challenges and celebrate the delights of older-life sexuality. I followed that book up five years later with Naked at Our Age: Talking Out Loud about Senior Sex after hundreds of readers sent me questions and comments about their own senior sex lives. Naked at Our Age will be available June 2011.

I live in Sebastopol, California where I write, teach contemporary line dancing, and work with personal fitness clients to help them make exercise a habit and a delight. I travel widely, presenting upbeat talks and workshops on fitness and ageless sexuality. What a wonderful idea! So many good suggestions that I am able to use daily with virtually no cost in dollars or time. Had I known before that getting in shape could be so easy I could have saved years of frustration. I like Joan's advice so much that I am ordering books for all my customers (I am a business owner). Highly Recommended. :-)

If you know you should exercise, but can't set aside half an hour for a workout, this book will get you moving - in two- or three-minute bursts. At the end of the day, you will have burned extra calories and given your body all the other benefits of a standard workout. I recommend it to anyone who is currently sedentary - and also to those who exercise but would like to do a little more.

The trick, as Joan Price explains, is to tuck extra activity into your day. She misses no opportunity to set you in motion. Taking a shower? Don't just stand there and drip - scrub the walls; do some stretches; work some muscles (believe it or not, your washcloth can turn into exercise equipment).

The book is filled with ingenious exercise ideas, starting with morning wake-up and continuing through the day. She includes workouts for auto trips and hotel stays; suggestions for getting a little action while you're on the phone; ideas for stroller-pushing parents - and much more. Instructions are clear; the writing is lively, friendly, and encouraging. An excellent book!

This is a good book if you already know how to do the suggested exercises, but I was sort of lost without diagrams or pictures. This book is organized situationally, that is, it gives you exercises to do in certain situations, like at the office or in the car...you get the picture.

I was looking for something a bit more instructive, not how to squeeze exercise into a busy day. I have a set time for that.

Still and all, the book delivers what it purports to deliver: If you have trouble fitting exercise into your life, then this is a good book. If, like me you're trying to get ideas for exercises, with diagrams and whatnot, then keep looking.
