After I had seen the movie, I considered buying the soundtrack. I saw the track list, and the only song I knew was "Anywhere but here" by K.D. Lang. I thought, why not, maybe the other tracks are as good as well. I took my chance to purchase it. Looking back, I'm glad I did.

The music is well chosen. There are up-tempo songs such as "Walking" performed by Pocket Size and "Twisted Road" by Patty Griffin, and there are slow songs such as "Everything Around Me Is Changing" by Sinead Lohan and "Amity" performed by Carly Simon and Sally Taylor. Furthermore, the "Anywhere But Here Score Suite" written by Danny Elfman is a pleasure for the ear, it makes you calm down and forget everything around you for a while. The soundtrack is a mix of happy, cheerful, fresh songs and sad, sober, serious songs. Hence, there is a song for all kinds of moods.

In short, although there are a few tracks that need to be listened to more often to be loved as much as the others, this soundtrack is worth to be listened to.

I bought this CD for the Mother/Daughter Duet,"Amity." By Carly Simon, and Sally Taylor. Its a great song, but the whole CD is fantastic. Even the sales clerk at the record store loved this tape. Every song here is a winner.

This CD is a wonderful collection of great artistes, like k.d. lang, Lisa Loeb, LeAnn Rimes, and Sarah Mclachlan. Each song is different and unique, providing a comfortable variety. Bif Naked gives pumps up the beat with "Chotee" , while the acoustic-driven Lisa Loeb track "I Wish" works its way into a beautiful string/violin climax. Charming. Other notable performances are by leser-known Kacey Crowley "Furniture". Poe's vocals are also excellent in "Strange Wind"

It's obvious that a lot of thought went into choosing these songs. I get a mental image of the direction the movie takes as I listen. The fact that the vocals are all done by females isn't lost on me either. I'd give it 5 stars but I just didn't care for a couple of tracks. I still highly recommend this CD!

The title song by KD Lang is excellent and so is the whimsical simplicity of Sarah Mclachlan's "Ice Cream" and the song by Leeann Rimes gives this soundtrack a big punch.

The best soundtrack since Boys on the Side. All during the movie. I kept thinking to myself-got to get the soundtrack. It's really cool.

I actually didn't like this movie at all, but I got the CD mostly for Sarah McLachlan and Bif Naked's contributions to the selection. I was pleasantly surprised to find several other very catchy songs on the album, and none that I couldn't stand. I like "Strange Wind", "Walking", and "Come Here" a lot, but all of the songs on this album are easy to listen to, without being catchy pop fluff (the only thing that comes close is "Scream and Shout" and it's still a pretty fun song). If you see a couple songs you know you like on here, go for it; you'll probably be able to enjoy the whole selection.

Well, after boys don't cry there is another great soundtrack with amazing female singers! My absolute favourte track is "free" from the new australian singer Marie Wilson. If you like Melissa Etheridge - CHECK HER OUT - wonderful artist! There's again Sarah McLachlan's "ice cream" on a soundtrack - but no wonder - it's wonderful track! There are also artists I don't know, but the songs are cool: Kacy Crowley, Sinead Lohan! My favourite songwriter Diane Warren wrote "Leaving's not leaving" performed by LeAnn Rimes... BUY THIS CD! IT'S THE BEST YOU CAN GET RIGHT NOW!
