Product Description

The new Apache AL9 laminator features an extremely sleek 1.5" profile. The overall product dimensions are 14.2x6.3x1.5". Yet despite its small size, the AL9 includes the features of much larger laminator costing several times the price. For example, the AL9 uses 4 rollers, 2 on each side of the heating element. Most laminators use only 2 rollers on one side of the heating element. Also the AL9 heats up and is ready to use in less than 1 minutes and laminates at a speed of 400mm/min.

This micro machine came via Cheetah Mounts, an Amazon seller, whom I might add is an excellent sales partner. That said, this mighty midget gets the job done. Not that I would suggest you use this for production laminating for sure, but for luggage tags, business cards, 8x10 or 8.5x11 papers, it does a good job. It heats up in less than a minute and also cools down fast for storage. Items roll through in their carriers smoothly and one pass is sufficient on thinner stock for adequate adhesion. Thicker laminate, such as luggage tags, can take two passes to do the job I find acceptable, although one pass sealed them adequately, and would pass most people's test just fine. I'm a bit picky!

For the occasional laminator user, I'd recommend this machine. Cold or hot laminating, 4 rollers rather than two and easy to use and store. If there is a single setback, it's the packaging which is a bit on the slim side, and if UPS does it's usual drop-kick through the goalpost of life with it, it may not survive. That's not the fault of the laminator, for sure, just rough handling in shipping.

I bought this unit for a woman at our church who wants to laminate drawings the kids are doing, so they can take them home and keep them forever! She was so excited when she got it. It can work in both HOT or COLD mode... We used is in HOT MODE with laminating pouches purchased locally. It does a WONDERFUL job! It is a VERY compact unit, and she can easily keep it in her desk drawer, it takes up very little space. I'm really not sure who is more excited, the kids who get their drawings back, HER for getting the great laminator, or ME watching them smile so much!!! I don't think this unit is build for heavy use, but for the 10 or 12 drawings the kids get laminated each Sunday, I think it should last a long time. The really neat part is when the kids make a drawing with crayon, I think as the drawing gets laminated, it actually melts the crayon wax a little bit and really makes the colors POP inside the laminating pouch! One last note... when you buy pouches, make certain that you get the "cardboard, glossy, laminating cover sheet" in the package wth the pouches... I don't think you are supposed to put the pouches into the machine unprotected, we put them inside a glossy fold over paper (that came with the pouches), then put the entire pack through the laminator. This little laminator is a GREAT DEAL and I would suggest it to ANYONE who needs a light to medium duty laminator. YOU CAN NOT GO WRONG PURCHASING THIS UNIT!!!!!!

I bought this laminator with great trepidation, due to some unfair reviews. The price can't be beaten & as long as you are careful putting in the sheets there will be a good result every time. I did about 100 pages in 2 days & it still was perfect each time after. And it has a warranty, FYI.

My first laminator arrived damaged from lack of packaging, not poor handling by the shipper. The Cheetah Mounts staff was FABULOUS to work with. They made my return easy and replaced it with one packaged better. I just used the laminator for the first time and all went well. If you can get Cheetah Mounts to put the original laminator box in ANOTHER box for shipping, you will be good to go!

I just received my laminator in great condition, plugged it in and realized I had no laminating pouches. Ran to the store and bought some, and laminated my insurance card. (Since then I ordered some from Amazon) The laminator works as described. I did notice that it sealed a little better if I ran it through twice. When I ordered my laminator, I contacted CheetahMounts and requested that they use a little extra packaging, since I saw in other reviews that the laminator arrived damaged from shipping. My email was immediately replied to, and since I had requested expidited shipping, it came boxed inside a UPS Second Day Air Box and was in perfect condition. I am very please to do buisness with CheetahMounts and would do so again. I would recommend this Laminator to anyone interested in an inexpensive solution to laminating.

Bought this when I ruined my faithful laminator with a "great idea" to laminate leaves (wouldn't suggest). Least expensive laminator I could find, and after making at least 100 flashcards, works great. Would suggest waiting a few minutes after the green light appears to begin laminating otherwise, you'll get some slightly foggy results (just ran them through again, and they came out fine). Small profile, makes it easy to store. Great value for your money!

First off I don't have much experience with laminators. I purchased this one as it was the cheapest one on Amazon and it looked stylish.

I have been laminating smaller cards about 3.5 x 5.5 and no matter how I change the insertion method, amount in the pouch (from a single one to 3-4 at max), the end product if full or air bubbles and is of mediocre quality at best.

Running it through a 2nd time cleans up many of the air bubbles and other imperfections but not all of them.

You might dismiss this that a cheap one won't be as good as the expensive ones, but even after 2 or 3 passes I feel more like my items were ruined rather than protected. I expected it to produce something without multiple visible flaws and it fails.

If you just want to archive things maybe this would work for you, but anything you intend to display or show is no dice.
