M&M's only have a 1 year shelf life, and have no business being in a MRE that is supposed to have a shelf life of 3-5 years depending on storage conditions.

Bought a case mainly for hiking/camping.

Pretty much the real deal. You don't get the same condiment package as government issued MREs, but the food is the same.

Gave it four stars because of the price, and nutritional value, not the flavorful cuisine. However, I have paid more for less palatable food. Good value. Good product to throw in your pack and start walking in to the mountains. Delivery time and condition were good.

I will buy more of this.

The date code was A-9336 which means it was made on the 336 day of 2009. I purchased it in 2013. I had one of the meals before I had checked the date code. I threw out the cookie because its packaging was compromised. I made the mistake of trying the M&M's which didn't taste right. By the way, Mars candies have a date code embedded in a stamp on their backs. The first 3 digits should be a number. Mine was 939 which means they were made the 39th week of 2009. M&M's only have a 1 year shelf life, and have no business being in a MRE that is supposed to have a shelf life of 3-5 years depending on storage conditions.

Do not buy!!!

Edit:
I just notice they dropped the price to $34.50. The reason they are so cheap is that they contain spoiled food. Do not buy!

Poor quality. For starters the heaters only work with the salt water provided not with regular water. Which sucks when trying to cut weight while backpacking. Peanut m&ms were rancid food was also disgusting compared to other mre. Just spend the cash and get surpaco mre havent had an issue with those.

The listing States that the shelf-life of this product is 5 years(packed on 10/2012 and good until 10/2017),but after opening the product I discovered that over 20% of each meal is due to expire in Feb./2014.
When I contacted the seller he sent me a form letter from the manufacturer stating that even though over 20% of each meal had a 'best by' date of Feb/2014 I should not be worried if I wait to eat it in 2017. Total B.S.

DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT

They taste like nothing you've ever experienced unless you've been in the military. Better than C rations because they're lighter. I have 8 cases. Probably get some more. Closest to military MRE's so far. For bug out food, it'll do until I get someplace I can hunt. For everything else... hey... it's food!

Already so old all of the peanut M&M packs went bad. No dates listed, so it's impossible to tell how long this stuff will actually last if you wanted to store it. Probably not long since the peanuts are rancid.

I know I can't expect much from an mre but this is ridiculous. The package was already 2 years old when I got it and the quality of the food was horrible.

Good price for the 12 meals, but they specifically were labeled self heating.....Sad to get into the woods that none of the 12 meals had heating pouches in them! We ate all of them cold which they were good.

Next time I will have to purchase the actual MRE's instead of another brand.

I did contact seller and he did offer to send me heating pouches, but I have no meals left to eat? Would have been nice to have
