The debut of a wonderfully unique voice in modern fiction!,
By C. Dean Andersson (Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Apart from You (Paperback)
If you're like me, I'll wager that without turning to a favorite classic work of fiction it's been a long time since you've read an intelligent, mentally and emotionally invigorating novel filled with situations, characters, and ideas that make you think new thoughts or re-think existing beliefs, all while entertaining you and making you want to keep reading long after the last page has been turned. APART FROM YOU abounds with the stimulating complexities of keen wisdom penetrated by the sharpened persistence of human hope. I applaud Wildside Press and give them a standing ovation for publishing Leonore Dvorkin's APART FROM YOU. Don't miss it!

A finely crafted work,
By Patricia (Houston, Texas United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Apart from You (Paperback)
"Apart from you" will enchant you with its glowing prose and tightly written scenes revolving around three principal characters. The characters, 2 college and one graduate student, explore their relationships with love and philosophy as Elizabeth spends her time "apart" from her fiance in an affair with a graduate student who is different in many ways from her betrothed. Anyone who has been in love will appreciate the way that Ms. Dvorkin expertly handles conflicting feelings and their resolutions. A great read!

Goldengrass,
This review is from: Apart from You (Paperback)
I found "Apart From You" an intriguing story that touched on many of my most cherished values, especially those concerning relationships, love, and commitment. Because of a major decision by one of the main characters to justify a sexual relationship with a college friend while trying to also maintain a future relationship with her liberal fiance, tremendous pain and suffering is experienced by all three individuals involved in this unique love triangle. The pain is especially true for the college friend who eventually has to deal with the fact that he was completely misled. Leonore does an excellent job in making these complicated situations seem so real and believable. Surprisingly, the story ends with tremendous hope and personal growth amid all the negativity. I put the book down feeling that life, at times, really is good. Congratulations, Leonore, on an excellent and moving first novel. I am a better person for having read it.

Don't waste your time and money on this book; it is really boring. The two people who gave it good reviews must have been the author's parents. Do yourself a favor and skip this one.
