Book Description

July 1, 1999
Introduction to apartment management as a career. Takes you through the hiring process then step-by-step to success. This book was born as a result of answering the question "How do I get into this business?" more times than I could account for and the words of a CEO who stated "You really need to market this!" There is no other book on the market that deals with this subject except legal issues which vary state to state.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"This book is not only a great A to Z reference for those wanting to break into the apartment management business, it is also a good review for the experienced manager. The Apartment Manager's Survival Guide covers all of the fundamentals of the business along with valuable tricks of the trade that only come from years of experience." -- Tom Bechtell, CPM, Designated Broker, Alco Properties

About the Author

20 years property management experience, 10 directly training personnel for management firms and owners of multi-family communities.

Knowing there is little personnel to train people new to our industry and witnessing the failure rate due to lack of education, I felt compelled to write this book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Thin on the ground, October 12, 2001

This review is from: Apartment Manager's Survival Guide (Paperback)
Ideas are a bit thin on the ground for this brief book.

The focus of the book is how to quickly get up to speed as a newly-employed apartment manager. There are some good ideas such as the importance of smell, the pros and cons of working as an apartment manager and time management.

The book is short, 129 pages in a large font, with lots of white space. For example, the book ends on page 118, then pages 119 and 120 are blank, pp. 121-128 are blank with the designation "Notes", p. 129 is an order form for further copies of the book (wishful thinking!), then there are three more completely blank unnumbered pages.

The topic of the book is a good idea, surely someone could put together a more comprehensive work.
