Hope it lasts forever!

It looks much like a conventional USB hub, except for the fact that the cable that plugs into the PC is 32 feet long.

Purchased this about a month ago and it works fine.

The hub works well overall.

The stand is very light and flimsy so any cable pressure will drag
the unit around or topple it. My stand in particular was not level
so I had to bend it a little to prevent it from wobbling.

An external 2.5" portable drive seems to work fine when plugged into
the hub.

However, even though it is a "powered" hub it does not provide enough
power to charge an iPad (to be fair a lot of PC laptops don't either).
An iPhone was also a bit fiddly as far as getting recognized by iTunes
and getting charged - likely because there is borderline enough power
for it.

Expect to have to charge iPads with a recent Mac's built-in USB port
or external power supply, and iPhones with a Mac/PC's built-in USB
port or external power supply.

The main reasons to get this hub over others (powered or unpowered) are
the good number of ports (7), the fact that it does seem to power external
laptop drives well, and the hopefully better quality and longevity over
other brands (I've read some scary reviews about other powered hubs frying
devices that were plugged into them).

I purchased the APC hub because APC makes quality UPSes, and I assumed the same for their hub. It looks well-made and seems very sturdy, except for its peculiar base, which makes it unstable with cables attached. The base is easily detachable by sliding it off the bottom of the hub. I turned the hub on its side, added 4 peel and stick clear rubber feet (purchased at my local "red bulls-eye" department store) to one side of the hub and voila--a nice, stable, powered 7 port USB 2 hub for under 15 dollars, including shipping. 2 ports face the front, 5 ports, the USB power and data cables are on the back side. There is a small green power light and each port has a blue light to show a device attached to the port. The port lights do not flash when sending data. It comes with a power supply and a USB 2 A-B cable. The hubs have individual serial numbers, and are warranted for 2 years. The included A-B cable is warranted for life. I'm very satisfied with my new hub.

This product is not listed on the APC web site, although they do list other USB hubs.

After doing some research online to find a 7-port USB Hub, I discovered the APC 7 Port Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Hub on this seller's page. It is an outstanding product and the price made it more attractive, so I bought two of them. They were shipped quickly and I am very happy to have them. I'd highly recommend this seller.

Purchased this for my ASUS USB-N53 wireless adapter because it didn't come with a cradle. It doesn't say in the description but the cable is 3ft long.

This is a quality product in every respect. The build is excellent, the LED indicator lights for each port are very handy, and it comes with a nice 3.8A power adapter which allows all 7 ports to run at full power draw (500mA each). I have a mix of USB 1.1 & 2.0 devices connected -- keyboard, mouse, headset, USB hard drive, flash drive, etc. The 2.0 devices transfer at high speed in this mixed environment (cheaper hubs revert to 1.1 speeds if any 1.1 device is connected). File transfers to the USB hard drive are snappy and reliable. I like the vertical space-saving orientation and haven't had any tip-over issues. The hub is off to the side and out of the way so maybe the low traffic minimizes that.

Technically, this USB hub works very well. It is common for me to use it with five to seven devices plugged in without a problem.

The design of the hub, on the other hand, is a disaster. The base is too small to allow the hub to stand with even one device plugged in, it will tip over. I had to put velcro on it and attach it to the side of my PC.

The case, while very sleek and modern looking, will pop open at the least provocation. I had to put packing tape over the top of the hub to prevent the side pieces falling off.

If it weren't for the terrible design of the case, I would have rated this hub 4 or even 5.

Before this I had a couple of Belkin USB hubs and my external hard drives were constantly being dropped to where I had to restart my computer to get them to show up. I thought they were just older drives and it was the hard drive's fault. Until I got a brand new hard drive and noticed it was having trouble staying connected too. I deduced it was the Belkin USB hubs so I ordered a couple of these and replaced the Belkins and for a month and a half I've had no problems at all. Other reviewers said they have trouble with charging their IPod but I haven't had any problems with that at all.

The best thing other than the reliability is the price, who can beat ten bucks for such a well designed hub. It shows how much the other companies are gouging you for their hubs. My old Hubs cost 30 bucks a piece and they were junk! I'll never pay that much again.

Update: I guess APC is gouging people with this now. I paid ten bucks and now it's forty. What changed? this shows how much of a profit companies are making off the backs of the public.

I had qualms about getting this device, shifting choices between brands that were more recognized and costs more. Practicality won out, and I decided to get this product. I have had this USB hub since mid-July and it's still working so far.

I have a lot of devices around my laptop and my laptop only has 2 hubs (it sucks, I know), so I really needed a USB hub to accomodate my keyboard, wireless mouse, my pen tablet, and other stuff that I plug in once in a while. I had a Targus travelling hub, but it wasn't self-powered, so external drives still need to actually be plugged directly to my laptop. It has a long power cord, but a shorter USB cord (I estimate around 3-4 ft), so if you want to place your hub on the floor this is not the best choice for you. I keep the hub right beside my laptop, since I want easy access when I plug in/out stuff.

I am satisfied with the product. It feels kind of flimsy, so heavy cables can drag this thing around if you're not careful. Of course I don't yank it around a lot - it sits nicely on my tiny workspace with its stand, not taking too much space, and the lights aren't too bright, which I know would bother some people. Only thing I wish is that the hub could lie sideways instead of just vertical, just so users have flexibility on how to arrange the hub in their workspace. The stand it comes with can only be used vertically, but it's removable.
