The system packs 250 watts total power, the better to deliver the full heft of dinosaur feet and intergalactic engine rumble. If you're vocally inclined, the system runs karaoke CDs and DVDs, plugging up to two microphones into the DVD player's front panel. A choice of S-video or standard composite-video accommodates most televisions. The player reads DVD-Video, SVCD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3-CD.
3D Virtual Surround Sound simulates surround sound through two speakers (even the stereo speakers on a TV) in the event that you aren't using your speaker system or want to listen to music with surround effects. The HT-100 includes a full-function remote control.

I bought thia system in hopes of starting to collect DVDs not VHSs'. This system is the best thing ihave seen for a small room surround system. It's plays DVDs fine.I also have a Playstation 2 and a Gamecube hooked up to it and the surround sound is great. I have sometimes been whathcing a movie when the bass gets real heavy and the subwoofer misses a second of the sound, this is no real prob for me. I rarely ever catch it anyhow. The remote could be better and i don't mean that it doesn't work because it worls fine. The button lay out can be really odd sometimes. When it comes to pumping out sound these little speakers can really make it loud. I have had this system for a week and i am very pleased with how it works. I do not agree with the other reviews with this item it is well worth the 200 bucks i paid for it.

The dvd surround sound works great, but using it as a receiver does not work at all for me. When I hook up the vcr or any other device like a playstation the surround sound does not work. I only plays through the front left and right channels. I'm going to return it.

The Apex HT 100-W ****!! It is ok if all you want to do is play dvd cd mp3 or the like. However, if you are looking for a system that will give you surround sound from a vcr (says it does, it DON"T, even bought a hi fi stereo one), satelitte, off air or cable it will NOT. Like everything Apex makes its high tech with hard to follow insturcts. Plus, info on it doesn't really tell you much. I got an Apex 43 inch tv which I am thrilled with. One would think Apex would have made a surround sound system equal to that of their tv's. I am going to let a friend of mine who is into dvd and cd have this ---that is all that it is good for. This has cost me money and it will you as well if you think you're getting a system that will give you surround sound from outside sources. I am very much disappointed, flustrated and drained with fooling around with this system. (I emaied Apex about their lousy system as well.) If you want a system to give you surround sound find one that has dolby 5.1, dts and dolby pro logic II (not just pro logic)that is a receiver that can properly decode from satellite (as in my case), cable or vcr. Apex is capable of making a great surround sound system...too bad they didn't!!
