Very poor DVD player,

All the features seem impressive for the money. However it takes a lot of pain to make it work reasonably, (that is smoothly), and after finally making it work, I have been unable to watch ONE movie or concert without some kind of freezing, "pixelization" of the screen at least ten times during the playback. (It doesn't matter whether the movie is zone 1, unrated or after modifying the flash memory to make it multizone reader. It is a nightmare)The only feature that works effortlessly, is MP3 playback, though the titles get truncated after 8 characters. In brief don't flush your money through the toilet.

I owned and used this for about 3 years. I enjoyed the ability to playback MP3's on it. I liked that the unit allowed you to have 3 DVDs or CDs loaded at any one time. While it was playing one, you could tell it to open the carousel and it would allow you to swap out one or both of the non-playing discs. The unit played my Region 0 DVDs with no problem. I did not experience the pixelation problems another reviewer wrote about. The unit had great sound quality. I found the remote to be small and efficient. Once you learned the layout, it was easy to operate, even in the dark. With about 6 remote controls on the table next to my recliner, it was nice to have a small remote. Good job Apex! Sadly, I no longer own this unit. Over time, the carousel developed a problem where it didn't want to stop spinning. When you first close the tray, it spins so it can load disc 1. Well, instead of spinning around once, it became twice. Over time, more and more revolutions would occur. When the player finishes with disc 1, it automatically switches and loads disc 2, then disc 3. After a while, it started spinning several times while switching between discs. Eventually, it didn't stop spinning and the player had to be retired. I enjoyed this player and was glad I bought it.

Good Machine for the money,

I bought this machine when it first came out. That was 4 years ago, and it still works great! I would rate the picture quality as a C+ and the sound quality as an A-. The worst thing about this machine is the horribly desighned remote. Overall, I am satisfied by the DVD's performance.

I purchased this DVD player over a year ago as I was just looking for one with Karaoke capability and basically something to replace my CD player with. For a great price, I found this unit which plays many formats of CD's, karaoke, and has the 3 cd changer. I haven't had any problems playing any DVD's, MP3's, VCD's or CD's. The quality is great, and you can find hacks to disable the Macrovision (if you so desire). The only things that I wish it had is a power button on the remote and progressive scan now that I have an HDTV as of last month. That just means I'll have to get a progressive scan DVD player soon...
