The AVL2776 features a widescreen picture aspect ratio (16:9; standard TVs have a 4:3 aspect ratio), which is the ideal screen format for viewing widescreen video from DVD players and the growing availability of broadcast programming off digital HDTV tuners (HD content is always widescreen), cable boxes and satellite receivers.
The 3D digital comb filter helps reduce video noise by comparing each horizontal scanning line with the lines above and below and with the corresponding line on the previous subsequent video frames. The 3:2 pulldown cinema video processing feature detects and compensates film--which is shot at 24 frames per second (fps) compared with video's 30 fps rate--to video for a smooth theater-like experience at home. The Picture-in-Picture (PIP) feature enables convenient simultaneous viewing of TV programs and video sources.
The AVL2776 has two built-in 10-watt speakers (for 20 watts of total power). It features the following video and audio connections:

Excellent HDTV monitor for the price,

This review is from: Apex AVL2776 27-Inch LCD Flat Panel HD-Ready TV (Electronics)
Even it doesn't have a HD tuner I match it with a HD tunner and the combinations is a great HD watching experience by a low price, it has: DVI, VGA/RGB, Y Composite video, S-Video and RCA inputs that makes it a nice alternative to connect it to different sources: DVD players with upconversion 720p, 1080i, X Box 360, PS3, Wii, laptop or PC (gaming is nice also).Just give it a try and if you don't like it you can always return it. The nice thing about buying products like this is that you save a lot of money and you have all that you need a big LCD 27" with HI-DEF resolution for a low price.

After 13 months TV is "unrepairable",

DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM APEX! I purchased this TV for my husband for Christmas, 12/19/04. The TV is in our bedroom and is watched occasionally-not every day. After 13 months, the picture suddenly went black. I have sound but no picture. We took it to an authorized Apex repair shop and they told us it was unrepairable. They can't get parts from Apex and we would need a new LCD screen. Even if we could get the part, the cost would be quite high. For a TV that is watched 8 hours per week-MAXIMUM-and at a cost of over $1000, this TV should not be unrepairable. We are so upset, and feel we have been ripped off. The warranty is only good for 12 months. I urge everyone to NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM APEX. You will waste your money. The repair shop said they have had a number of these TVs and other Apex products come in but cannot be repaired-parts not available. There should be a law against this type of consumer ripoff.

Mine still works to this day,

I purchased mine in beginning of '05 to this day it still works fine, I moved 4 times already, always kept the original box for moving purpose. I had a problem with it once, it started to shut off automatically (just the screen), no technician wanted to repair it, I guess for lack of technical materials on Apex, finally I somehow realized the problem was with the power adapter. Went on Ebay bought a generic external power adapter for 60 bucks, it solved my problem. Ever since it's a piece of marvel, saves me money from buying an expensive HDTV. I love the screen, resolution is very very good, just the sound isn't that great but I use a home theater system, so problem solved!
