Apex DT150 Digital TV Converter Box

I purchased two of these converter boxes. The first one I had to take back to the store because the remote would not work and there is no way to control the device without the remote. The second one I brought home displays a random black box on the screen that comes and goes on its own. The box takes up 80% of the screen and always seems to come on when something important is being shown. The remote is very slow to change channels and has to be very close to the box in order to work at all. When you press volume down sometimes it goes up instead. The same thing with the channel buttons. I do not reccomend anyone buy this. It has been such a frustration that I am going to just buy a new tv that has one built in with warranty.

It broke after less than 6 months of use. While it was "working," the remote, which is the only way you can control this thing, works really badly. Press the channel up button, and the channel goes down, skips a couple channels, or doesn't respond at all. Press the menu key, change the channel. Try to turn the volume up with your other TV remote, change the channel. BOOOO.

After it poorly functioned for the first few months, it now will not turn on. The power light just flashes each time you press it.

Before this model completely died off, it needed channels scanned regularly. (Channels disappear if you don't re-scan regularly).

I don't recommend this or any Apex digital converter. After looking at other reviews the "larger" models are doing the same exact thing.

Apex has made somebody mad.


...I can't press this enough,... it was just absolute trash from day one. The U.S. Goverment has just been scammed out of 1.5$ billion.
