Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

The MD-100 is one of the only portable DVD players specifically designed for use in a motor vehicle or boat. As DVD players go, it's fairly basic--an RCA composite-video jack, Dolby Digital and DTS surround-sound output (for use with a compatible surround receiver), MP3-CD playback--but its small size lends it to use in any space-constrained place, and you get the enormous convenience of being able to watch DVDs on the go. (A portable screen is not included.)

A handy front-panel video input lets you channel the audio and video from a camcorder or gaming console through the MD-100. Playback options include slow and fast motion forward and reverse, frame-by-frame slow motion, multiple language subtitles (captions), multiple angle (with applicable discs), built-in screen saver, programmable playback sequence, and parental lock.

1.0 out of 5 stars Apex Support is Bad!, September 16, 2002

This review is from: Apex MD-100 12-Volt DVD Player (Electronics)
I purchased this item and 2 months later all the buttons on the front panel of the MD-100 stopped operating. I called Apex and they said to send them the remote. I repeated that it was the buttons on the ACTUAL unit that was not operating, and I was told "Just send us the remote!". I sent the remote. I waited 5 weeks for it to return and when I received it the unit still did not operate. I called Apex and now they said that something is wrong with the unit. They gave me an RA # and said to include a check for $39.00 made payable to Apex Digital. I asked what the $39.00 was for and they said, "Labor. Your unit is out of it's 90 day warranty!" I reminded them that it was indeed in warranty when I initially called about the problem. I was told there was nothing they could do to waive the $39.00." Rather than send the unit for repairs, I purchased a new unit from another manufacturer.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great DVD player, December 22, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Apex MD-100 12-Volt DVD Player (Electronics)
Before buying this DVD player, I had another one installed in my van. It skipped, locked, and did not play half of my DVD's. Since I had this one installed, I have not had any problems. I read the other reviews, and I can understand the problems with the poor customer service. I would not base my purchase decision based on one bad unit. Mine works great, and I have never had the need to call customer service. On my old DVD player, made by a different company, their customer service told me everything from it is a bad DVD, to they didn't manufacture it, and would not support it.

This is the DVD player to get. If the one you get does not work, just return it to where you bought it, don't bother with the customer service.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good., October 28, 2003

This was a pretty good DVD player for its time, and has served me well over the past two years. Only two or three of my 300 DVDs will not play on it. It also plays VCDs and SVCDs well.

The small size of the unit is another plus.

But it doesn't seem to play burned DVD-R, so I'm going to have to replace it.
