4.0 out of 5 stars Good value for the money
Like most consumer sets, it needs a bit of setup. The contrast was set to 100 from the factory but needs to be set much, much lower to prevent distortion. Turn off the auto black level adjustment, and turn on warm color temperature, for DVD viewing. Once adjusted, the picture looks great, better than a similarly-priced set I bought only a few years ago. The flat...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but has some issues
The TV has a nice menu and colors look vivid. There is only 1 S Video input. However there are two issues with this TV. First, when in compressed widescreen mode, there is a visible gray horizontal line right above the viewable area that stretches across the entire screen. Second, the corners of the TV suffer from blurriness. The blurriness is most noticible when...

The flat screen is a great feature at this price point -- it does seem to reduce reflections. The resolution seems very good -- DVDs looked great. I have the feeling you could get a better picture, but at this price range, I feel that it's very good, and it probably would be considered good by anyone except perhaps by hard-core home theater enthusiasts. (I hope that is sufficient hedging! :-) )

At the risk of contradicting the description -- my unit only has 1 S-video input, as far as I can tell.

The only real complaint I have is that when you use the squished "wide" mode, there are horizontal colored lines just above the viewing area (within the top black bar). If I can get past that, this seems like a great feature that I hope to make use of!

First, when in compressed widescreen mode, there is a visible gray horizontal line right above the viewable area that stretches across the entire screen. Second, the corners of the TV suffer from blurriness. The blurriness is most noticible when displaying text. This may be an issue for you if you like to watch DVDs with a lot of subtitles or watch shows which have a lot of text like Bloomberg Financial TV.
