The Aphex 1401 Aural Exciter Acoustic Pedal/Direct Box is for any traditional acoustic instrument with active or passive pickups. Voicing is clean and open, it provides better articulation, clarity, and projection with a feeling of fuller reach to the lowest notes.

• Aural Exciter: The original, world famous, patented, sound enhancer with transient discriminate harmonics generator. This is the real thing, not a ripoff or wanna-be.
• Easy To Use: With simplified controls - just the ones that are really needed (and no extra tweakazoid adjustments that take forever to figure out) - the 1400 series Xciters are totally intuitive to use. Simply plug in and start playing. Every control does just what you think it should. You'll be loving it right away.
• Free D. I.: At no additional cost, you you get a top quality D.I. Box with ground lift in the bargain! The D.I. output can be switched to wet (with effects) or dry (clean) and can feed the mic input of any sound mixer or mic preamp.
• Instrument Output: When the effect foot switch is on, the output is driven at instrument level, very close to the actual instrument's output level. You normally will plug it directly into your amp's normal hi-z input jack. When the foot switch is off, then the output is switched directly to the input and you get a direct wired bypass. (No electronics is inserted).
• Instrument Input: The Active/Passive switch lets you use both kinds of instruments. Input impedance is high (10 megohms) in passive mode so it won't load down any pickup including unpowered piezoelectrics. The active mode impedance is over 50Kohms. All power is turned on by plugging in the input plug.
• External and Battery Power: The 9V internal replaceable battery powers the unit continuously for at least 150 hours. External power is very flexible: ac or dc! Any stomp box power supply will typically work in a pinch.
