My late wife Diane, of British ancestry, bought Aphrodite's book as a way of better understanding and being able to prepare the Greek foods that I grew up with in our Greek-American home. As a home economist whose specialty area was foods, she dove right into the book, and was making foods that would melt any yayia's (grandmother's) heart. I have since purchased copies for my sons, so that they and their very American wives can carry on the good eating.

My father is greek. my mother is not. she had no idea how to properly make greek food that was close to the way my grandmother would make it for my father. this book gives authentic greek recipes. wonderfully tasting and easy to understand.

When Aprodite published this book, she gave a signed copy,that was 1979. I have never stopped using it. This cookbook has been my first point of reference in all my meals. I am not of Greek heritage, I am Lebanese and my husband is love it.

I have tried numerous recipes in this book, from the Avgolemono soup to the Fish soup to the sweets. Everything I have made is delicious, and the instructions are very clear. My mother who grew up in Greece was never satisfied with any Greek cookbook until this one. Each recipe in here tastes as she remembers it should. If you come across it, grab it up! I would love it if the publishers would reprint this one.
