Chart line Jazz Driven!, July 19, 2003

I was not really familiar with Embryo's work until I heard this recording. Having been a prog rock kid from way back and knowing that Trilok Gurtu is playing on the record made me take a gamble. This is a tight band! The pieces are intelligent and the vocalist is a bit avant-gaurd, but I am acustom (sp?) to folks like Annette Peacock (sp?), etc., and for me it is just part of the atmosphere. This record is very line based jazz influenced- not smyphomic rock at all which is cool with me! Excellent spin!
