Black Leather iPhone 4 Protection,

This review is from: Apocalypse Tuff-Grip (Antenna Assist) case cover for Apple iPhone 4G / 4 / 4S - Black - Tree of Life (Electronics)
I had been happy with the Case-Mate Napa Leather Case I bought for my previous iPhone. I was hunting for the same black leather look and feel, but with some way to cover the screen when I put the iPhone in a bag or pocket.
This case was my first choice and I remain pleased with it after several months. The black leather does not disappoint and the Tree of Life leatherwork is reasonably good. The aluminum reinforcement under the leather is sturdy and helps the case grip my iPhone securely. The leather itself has resisted damage from small sharp objects and large dull children. It has holes in all of the right places for switches, ports and lenses. Unlike many cases, this one's cover folds UP to cover the screen and snaps on the top part of the case's back. This means that when you talk on the phone, the flap hangs down instead of sitting askew on top of your head. Much more dignified--for situations where that matters. It's possible to fold the flap onto the back of the case and secure it with the snap. Twisting the strap takes a little practice to do--and I'm not explaining it well--but this keeps the flap out of the way when you are using the phone. The slight tilt of this configuration on a flat surface makes it seem as though the iPhone is on a stand. I like this. One thing to watch out for. You will get a package in the mail with "Tuff-luv Black Leather" on the outside. Mine raised a few eyebrows before I got to it, extracted my case, and threw it away. Your mileage may vary.

This is a good case. It holds the phone very securely and protects it on all sides. Considering the amount of protection it provides it adds surprisingly little to the footprint of the phone. The phone and case fit comfortably in my pocket. All of the buttons you would want to use while the case is closed are accessible when it is closed. It is sometimes challenging to figure out what to do with the part of the case that hangs loose when the case is open. I usually fold it back behind the rest of the case. I wonder if the piece of material that connects this flap to the rest of the case will wear out in time. At one month it shows no signs of wearing out. The snap closure is very secure, but it prevents the case from lying perfectly flat when it is open. This hasn't been a huge problem. A magnetic closure would be less obtrusive and more stylish, but less secure. Overall this is a very well designed and manufactured case. I am very satisfied with it.
