You do not have to be a fan of heavy metal juggernauts Slipknot to recognize the unique quality of the photos in this body of work. M. Shawn Crahan offers an interesting perspective on life through the lens and creative manipulation of his medium format Polaroid photography. This is more than a mere casual art book, you will be sucked through the wormhole with each piece in this finely crafted book, and would look fine on anyone's desk, coffee table, etc...it is well worth the asking price.

Fans of Slipknot will of course be in for a special treat in appreciating and recognizing some individuals in the scenes portrayed, and perhaps enlightened to a new respect of Clown's artistic vision.

And that's literally what Clown (M. Shawn Crahan of Slipknot) did. No photoshop whatsoever, that's what makes this book so interesting, and above all, an art. I would never dream of manipulating photos the way he did; all creative and innovative. The inserts and messages left by other artists give an insight into their perspective of Clown's photography and art and it's really interesting to see their take on the project.

As for the pictures themselves, it leaves SO much to one's imagination and interpretation, even with Clown's explanations at the end of each section of a set of photos, you can't help but interpret what his own interpretations are.

Much more than a picture book. And definitely not an artsy collage.

The merit, in my opinion, lies in, again, HOW these photographs were manipulated the way they were. Slipknot fan or photography hobbyist, this is worth picking up.
