3.0 out of 5 stars Apollo 13
This book is very good, it tells the story of the Apollo 13 incident in a very simple way. It helps children understand the dangers and responsabilities of space exploration without discouraging children to become part of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars It is a good novel, October 11, 2010
This review is from: Apollo 13 (Penguin Readers, Level 2) (Paperback)
This novel is about a plan that sends astronauts to moon. While they were going to the moon, important Oxygen tanks were out of control. That's because some rock hit spaceship. Rock of the space is very dangerous. Without oxygen, they can't breathe, and can't operate their spaceship. It is the true that they have a big problem which their life rest on. How can they survive? How did they escape from the broken spaceship? Let you know? No! You can find answers the question if you read the book.
I like this book and movie. I thank for the astronauts. Some people may think this novel is exaggerated by writer. No matter what did they exaggerate their achievements, they deserve to compliments, because they did their best and didn't give up their lives. When I was 14 years old, I watched movie "Apollo 13". After watching the movie, I'm excited. I hope to visit NASA, the U.S. soon or later.
The reason I recommend this book, let me know how I can get through a trial. Sometimes the people give up their dreams so that they realize achievement following a lot of sacrifices. However, if you gained one, you will lost another. It is truth. It is your portion whether you Earn something or not. Even though you strive to choose the best answer, you will regret the answer that doesn't choose.

4.0 out of 5 stars The long journey home. The story of Apollo 13., November 29, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Apollo 13 (Penguin Readers, Level 2) (Paperback)

The main character in this book is Jim Lovell. Jim is a very imaginative man. He dreams of going to the moon with his friend Ken Mattingly. When he finally gets to go to the moon like Neil Armstrong Ken gets sick and doesn't get to go. Finally in space something happens that Jim will never forget.

In the beginning the plot was to go to the moon to collect moon rocks but when something explodes on the ship they just try to get them home alive.

The story takes place on the Apollo13 space shuttle in space and in mission control in Houston.

The theme was trying to get the astronauts home safely.

I loved this story because it was exciting and very thrilling. I just kept wanting to read more and more and before I knew it the book was over and my adventure was over. So it was a fantastic book and I think everybody should read it The best part was it was based on a true story.
