Through Silver in Blood. Calculating Infinity. Leviathan. Jane Doe. The Apologist. I'm Dead serious.

East of The Wall is one of the most talented bands I've ever listened to. Their fluttery, dream sequence clean tones, their crashing omnidirectional heavy aesthetic, the sincere and emotive clean singing which never feels shoehorned in, the bass.

Man oh, man, the bass.

I listened to Ressentiment a few time. There were moments that blew me away, but for the most part, I think I wanted to like the album more than I truly did. Something about it felt a million miles away, like I was watching a beautiful shark through too much protective glass. An insular element I probably didn't try hard enough to crack.

The Apologist retains and ups the level of skill, but the band has cranked up the songwriting markedly. Which is not to say that they've in any way meddled with their accessibility-Nay, their pynchonesque vision of prog rock retains its knotty mien, but now shines instead of confuses, breathes instead of boggling.

Without a trace of doubt, this is my album of the year.

This album achieves a mature sound of progressive metal like bands before from Dillinger Escape Plan, Mastodon, Botch, Opeth... I saw them last night and bought the cd right after they played and I've been listening to it all day along with Postman Syndrome's lost 2nd album which is also good. The production on this album is fantastic and I think the clean vocals are much better represented pushed back into the music more than previous albums I've heard by these musicians. Overall I pretty much agree with the other review, man oh man that bass... If you love prog metal, post-punk, math rock, or especially any experimental metal like Candiria or Don Caballero then this cd just might blow your face off. See them live and they actually will blow your face off.

I've sometimes wondered if people saw this album cover if they would think the name of the band was East of the Wall or The Apologist.

This is an album for fans of math metal. If you like Don Caballero, The Cancer Conspiracy, and others of their ilk you will enjoy this album. A+
