4.0 out of 5 stars Still worth saving, April 20, 2008
This review is from: Apothecarius Argentum: VOL 02 (Paperback)

Argent's career as the royal apothecary is taking off, much to Princess Primula's delight. He even has an assistant now, a young man named Soda. But the past continues to haunt the two of them, particularly Argent's training as a basilisk assassin. However, the past between the two stirs up emotions in the present and it is obvious that Argent and Primula share a great affection for one another. What will happen when Primula starts to evaluate her future potential as the Kingdom's Queen?

This is such a surprisingly good read. I am still quite enamored with it. I love the plotline. It's such good shojo. I am presently ordering in the rest of the series to the store I work in. I want others to read this.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Past Haunts Argent and The Princess!, February 1, 2008

This review is from: Apothecarius Argentum: VOL 02 (Paperback)
This is the bold declaration on the back of the book. I have to say, the past haunts us as well. If you weren't the biggest fan of the first volume, the second volume won't impress you much either. Save yourself time and money and go buy the first volume of another series you're interested in.

However, if you like the series, you're up for another 4 recipes (thier term for the various episodes). The first episode is a bit sad, we see more about Argent and the Princess as well as Argents kindness. The second episode, the princess has run away and it's up to Argent to find her. A lot of this episode is done in flashbacks to when Argent was the Princess's food taster. The third episode brings us to the story right before Argent ran away from the palace, also done in flash backs. All this leads up to the fourth episode where someone thought dead returns and once again Argent has to help save the princess.

So far, the princess has grown a lot since the beginning of the series, but all the flashbacks seem to take away from the story. I'll admit, it was a bit better than the first volume because you get the know the characters a little more. My favorite story of the volume is the first one, it's the only reason why I didn't give the book 2 stars.
