This is a very good overview and offers lots of info for the beginners and intermediates. The book includes three fold out trail maps for specific short sections which are the very best. But, the specific maps only cover a small percentage of the entire GA/NC AP trail.

On our last trek on this stretch of the Appalachian Trail, this book proved to be a good source for trail info. Loved the waterproof topo maps.
