Best book of its kind with great pictures of antique baskets, July 8, 1999
This review is from: Appalachian White Oak Basketmaking: Handing Down Basket (Paperback)
If you love making baskets, or just enjoy looking at them or maybe even collecting them, then this book is a must have book. Law and Taylor have put together the definative book on white oak basket making ( as well as some baskets of other materials). For the accomplished basket maker the photographs and illustrations can serve as inspiration as well as pattern. Reading this book will make you want to grab your ax and head for the woods, and if that isn't possible you will want to get to your local basketry material supplier as soon as possible. This is the best book of its kind that I have seen, the perfect blend of art and history.

Definitive Work, October 27, 2011
This review is from: Appalachian White Oak Basketmaking: Handing Down Basket (Paperback)
This is an absolutely outstanding book on the history and craft of a particular kind of basket: one made from Appalachian white oak. If you really want to head into the woods, select the perfect white oak tree (perfect for making baskets, that is), chop it down, then turn it into pliable strips and weave baskets from it, this is the book for you. If you really want to learn how to weave rib baskets, with all their embellishments, this is the book for you. And if you really want to look at photos of old baskets and be inspired, this is the book for you. A must-have for people who love baskets.
