5.0 out of 5 stars Wow... just.... wow....
This is a great album. One must always wonder if a band's 2nd album is gonna beat their debut. Well, Kids in the Way does that... and more. They deliver a heavy, emotional, all around awesome sophmore release. The vocals are great, the lead singer brings a bit more screaming to the table this time, but I found it well received, it overall just added to the emotion...

3.0 out of 5 stars This is not a 5 star album!
3 stars just because they don't suck. They have a few good songs, but the rest are lacking.

Kids in the way have amazing potential. If you have heard "Fiction" or the titled song "Apparitions of Melody" You would know it. like their debut album they have "Love,Kids in the way, and phonix with a heartache".

Each a great song, and I mean it, 1 out...

This is a great album. One must always wonder if a band's 2nd album is gonna beat their debut. Well, Kids in the Way does that... and more. They deliver a heavy, emotional, all around awesome sophmore release. The vocals are great, the lead singer brings a bit more screaming to the table this time, but I found it well received, it overall just added to the emotion conveyed in the lyrics (which is what I believe "good" screaming is). The lyrics are deeper this time around, something usually to be expected on a band's second album. On just the first few listens, I was already hooked to everything about this CD. From the first to last track, it just rocked. I liked Kids in the Way's first CD, so I was expecting there sophmore effort to be good. Well, they delivered, and then some. I would highly reccommend this album, to any rock fans. I normally try to reserve the 5 star rating to a truly exceptional CD... and this is a great CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful!, May 21, 2005
This review is from: Apparitions of Melody (Audio CD)
This CD is simply amazing. I loved Safe From the Losing Fight, but there were no doubt many things that needed to be improved. Between being cleanly produced, unique lyrics, and songs that all sound differant this CD has everything that their other album did not. Granted, Apparitions of Melody does have alot more screaming than Safe from the Losing Fight, but not in a bad way. Along with Dave's fantastically unique voice, the screaming adds emotion to make the songs more dynamic.

My top 3 favorite songs were probably "Even Snakes have Hearts", "Apparitions of Melody" and their cover of "Head Over Heels".

If you like Showbread or Subseven, this CD would probably be an interest to you.

Weix Mud "Weix Mud" (Knoxville, Tennessee United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Apparitions of Melody (Audio CD)
I picked up this CD today the first day it came out because I loved their last CD "Safe from the Losing Fight". This one isn't as good because its missing those one or two really just great songs that make a album complete. With Safe from the Losing Fight it had 1 great song and 2 good ones but the other songs were just straight filler songs and weren't really that good. This CD is a better all around album with every song being pretty good but its missing that one great song that you can listen to over and over again that makes a release complete. Still I thoroughly enjoyed this CD. I'm seeing them in Nashville next month I can't wait. I saw them in February in Knoxville with Skillet, and Seventh Day Slumber it was the first time I had heard them, I have been a fan ever since. I think this CD was a pretty solid CD and I enjoyed it

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE this CD, June 9, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I had first purchased KITW's newest album, A Love Hate Masquerade, and fell in love with it, but was slightly reluctant to go backwards to their older stuff. But I am so glad I bought Apparitions of Melody, it is an amazing addition that reveals an entirely different side to the band that I was happily surprised to see! I have so much respect and admiration for them as it is, this just added another aspect of that to my opinion of them and their music.

3 stars just because they don't suck. They have a few good songs, but the rest are lacking.

Each a great song, and I mean it, 1 out of 10 they would all fall in between 8 to 10 ratings.

They have a exellant singer who has a very different voice, very unique, rare voice. His screams I could tell from a hundred others. Once you hear it, you would know how unique it is.

[...]

They're only able to bring the magic on those songs. The rest are just plain. Ulimatly this is a fair cd. Some great songs but not a great cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, January 18, 2007
This review is from: Apparitions of Melody (Audio CD)
From the minute I put this disc in my car's stereo I was hooked. From the first track, Last Day of 1888 to the last "real song" Burt Rutan Kids in the Way sounds amazing with their own brand of alternative maybe post-punk rock or something like that, whatever it is its great. The last two tracks include a cover of Head Over Heels and a slow song that could very well be the song that changes your heart. In addition to a good sound the lyrics are astounding and deal with deep and dark issues while conveying a sense of hope through Christ.

This album is amazing as is their othe rwork "Safe From the lsoing Fight"

4.0 out of 5 stars great but not perfect, July 24, 2005
This review is from: Apparitions of Melody (Audio CD)
this cd is great :D it's lovely music in true kids in the way style. the sound has improved since their last cd "safe from the losing fight", but still there is something missing. there are some great classic songs here, but the whole cd is missing something. i can't put my finger on what. still a very great cd :D
