The title is misleading and it's a shame because this is a jewel of a book loaded with documentation and stories you won't find elsewhere. She did her homework.

I was amazed that the Catholic church had kept such precise documentation the past 2000 years. Picky picky picky. It was not confined to their records but they've kept the lion's share.

This is a book about people who have died (good) showing up to individuals (usually good), often after someone has prayed to ask their help. I've been praying a long time and it never occurred to me that someone might.... show up!

And they say that "God sent them" so you don't ask them to do the job, you ask them to pray for you and influence God. The church didn't make that up. They learned it from the people who have visited!

You know what this means, don't you... it means that if our relatives were good and made it to heaven they can hear us. But they don't have as much clout as some of the holy saints. There is a whole theology about this based on tons and tons of evidence collected over 2000 years. Try to beat that. I'm shocked at myself for doubting them for so long.

This is a good book to read if you're trying to figure things out... if you've read The Secret for example and find it lacking. This will, frankly, knock your socks off!

I recommended it for boosting your faith that your prayers are being heard. (Whoa!)

Many Christians find themselves doubting just when they least want to, i.e. during tragic times. Nothing could help you more than reading about these authenticated researched apparitions of the saints to those on earth. Since Treece is a journalist, her approach is not sentimental but hard as a rock, exactly as you want your faith to be. Delightfully written, you will enjoy and be inspired by these accounts.

Apparitions Of Modern Saints is an enticing way to become acquainted with many recent Saints. Patricia Treece shares a wealth of information in an appealing manner. There are new insights to those Saints with whom we are familiar and we are introduced to others whom perhaps we never would have met.
An inspiration to sanctity.

Fascinating book. she does a great job of giving background and helpful information in the introduction regarding the difference between ghosts, demons, various spiritual phenomena. the Chapters themselves give live accounts of apparitions of various saints throughout this past 100 years. all accounts are well documented and researched. I would recommend this book to anyone who is looking at trying to understand apparitions and appearances of the spiritual.

A seriously comprehensive look into after death appearances of Saints and Mystics, Patricia Treece has pulled together an immense collection of reports from across the world on the phenomena of apparitions of holy men and women.

The author documents accounts of all variety, shape, and size; Modern saints and historical figures. Men and women. Well known and barely recognized. Old and young. Catholic and Protestant.

The one thing in common; they all come with messages from God, offering hope, healing, and faith; often in times of doubt, pain, and spiritual struggle.

Saint Therese of Lisieux is by far the most mentioned, though you will find stories relating to such devout persons as Padre Pio, Don Bosco, Therese Nuemann, Black Elk, and many, many others.

Very objective and honest; this book will make a great addition to anyone's personal library.

It will strengthen your faith, comfort you in times of need, and bolster your trust in placing all things in the hands of God.

Easy reading. Patricia Treece has a delightful way of bringing saints to life as they lived it. Saints are really remarkable people and it is especially enjoyable to read more of their biographies and ongoing inspirational activities.
