clean, detailed, thoughtful, and irresistible, June 7, 1999

our friend from the UK needs a hearing aid. if he finds kreidler boring he must find mouse on mars, boards of canada, and even autechre positively coma-inducing. such a shame. "she woke up and the world had changed" and "au-pair" are cinematic, well-wrought, and blatantly gorgeous. "il sogno di una cosa" has the rhythmic integrity of can, while "coldness" updates can's understated moody vocals. not that kreidler has much to do with can, but the teutonic tradition is propagated here. armchair electronica? retro-funk? sound effects from 30 years of slasher flicks and sci-fi? a little lawn-sprinkler? direct your attention to "appearance and the park".

warm feelings, October 27, 2005
This review is from: Appearance and the Park (Audio CD)
if i had to put a tag on Kreidler's music, i would call it "organic electronica." it flows along with a motorik rhythms and infuses a clean, open approach which is always sensitive, not just to the notes of the music, but to the space around the notes as well. most of these songs are skeletal pieces whic seem to be built around the drums. various little bleeps and glitches pop in one after another and the bass playing is excellent as well as the keyboards; which add plenty of nice atmosphere and melody. overall, the mood of Appearance And The Park is relaxed and cool...but it never seems too far detached from the modern world. thanks in part for the wise decision to use live drums. my favorite song is the tense "Il Sogno di una Cosa" with it's eerie synthesizers swirling around a persistent bass and drum line that is both haunting and strangely catchy. Kreidler represents a sound that is rooted in electronic processing, but cares enough about the pop aspects and the melody of a song, so that the results are not lost in a muddle of wires and computerized sterility. recomended for fans of Mice Parade, Mum, To Rocco Rot, and Tortoise.

Excellent modern Krautrock, reminiscent of Can and Kraftwerk, April 21, 1999

As a fan of such German groups as Can and Kraftwerk, I stumbled across this new album by the German group Kreidler and really enjoyed it. They have a fresh sound mixing analog electronic synth's with rock instruments with the occasional vocorder. Check out tracks #2 and #4. Es ist fantastisch! (Fantastic album.)
