About the Author
Carla Capalbo is a food writer with numerous publications to her credit. Her work as a cookbook author, editor, teacher, and stylist on both sides of the Atlantic spans twenty years and stands out for its distinctive flair and sophisticated taste. She was born in NewYork, brought up in Europe, and has lived and worked in Italy since 1989. She is a member of the British Guild of Food Writers and of Slow Food.

As a novelty gift at half the price, this would be a fun little book. As it is, do you really want to pay almost $10 for a book that tells you to put colorful garnishes on deviled eggs? Of the 20 recipes, only one was a notch above the aforementioned. This is basic fare that you'd find most anywhere and can prepare in your sleep. The boardbook is a neat idea and the 50's designer colors (aqua, salmon, and turquoise) make it a kitschy, little standout. Alas, so much more could have, and should have, been done when it came to choosing recipes.
