Evidently a cheap knock-off with the Apple label,

This review is from: Apple USB Power Adapter for iPod/iPhone (NEWEST VERSION) (Accessory)
Got the power adapter and cable today, and plugged my iPhone 3Gs into it -- the connection is intermittent (the icon on the iPhone jumps between the lightning bolt and the plug icons) , and when I pulled the cable out of the power adapter, the cover came off the connection -- neither of which would have happened with a real Apple cable and adapter. I'll try one more time to charge my iPhone, if it doesn't work better this time, I'll return this setup and it's off to the Apple store to get the real thing.

Compact,quick charging,

This comes stock with the iPhone 3G, phone charges really fast. The only reason I docked a star is the prongs don't fold down.
A few things to note: 1) Why is this $35 on Amazon, and only $30 from Apple? More so, why is a freaking power adapter $30!!! Part of the answer might be... 2) Beware of after-market (used/ebay/etc) power adapters. There was a recall on these back in September. The new (replacement) ones have a small green dot on the side with the prongs. You can't just buy a cheapo off ebay and take it in for an exchange, because Apple requires the serial # from the phone. 3) Older dock chargers and wall warts don't work on the iPhone 3G (they changed the pin config around for the iPhone 3G) but I used my older iPOD USB cables and this wall wart adapter and the phone charged just fine.

NOT an apple product,
This review is from: Apple USB Power Adapter for iPod/iPhone (NEWEST VERSION) (Accessory)
I had found many iPod wall chargers on amazon, but was happy to find a "genuine" Apple product. DO not be fooled though! This product is not an apple product. Other walk chargers on amazon were much cheaper than this one, but I bought this charged because of the apple name. I was ripped off, and will never buy from this seller again. Though the charger works, there is always a chance it will ruin my iPod touch since it is not a true apple product . While the picture the seller posted looks exactly like the one on the Apple website, it is merely a scheme, and the one I received in the mail looks nothing like it. Don't buy this product. You will receive the same thing if you buy the .01$ ones off other users on amazon .

My husband and I are constantly misplacing our iPhone chargers so I bought a couple of these inexpensive ones with the hope we could stop selling our souls to Apple/AT&T quite so much. These work perfectly and aren't going to break the bank if you leave them in your hotel, with the in-laws, at the office...you get the picture.
I received them two days after placing the order with standard shipping. Update: I dropped my review from five stars to one. One of the plugs I purchased stopped working after one week so I unwrapped the other and found that it was defective from the start. Total waste of money.

Check the Apple website, and you'll see that part #MB352LL/B is supposed to come with the USB cable in addition to the power adapter. If the price from another supplier is suspiciously low (say, under ten dollars), you're most likely getting only the power adapter. BUY DIRECTLY FROM AMAZON - I received the genuine Apple part: new post-recall power adapter (with green dot), and USB cable. Works perfectly.

This is a joke!!!!!!!!!,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I was looking for a charger for my Iphone 2G and came upon this and thought I had found an inexpensive charger. I ordered it through Amazon but from a private seller. It arrived on time, but when I put it to use, oh my God! it was clear that there was something terribly wrong with the charger. My Iphone was beeping and showing signs of charging and going off at the same time. When I picked it up to check what the problem was, it was so hot that I thought it was going to burn up. I unplugged it and tried it again the very next day and got the same result. I even tried different sockets around the house to no avail. Whereupon I notified the sellers who offered to replace it with another one but I just wanted out of the deal. I have since learnt my lesson and which is - pay attention to negative reviews, they are always right 60% of the times.

Works fine, but not the updated "green dot" version as advertised,

The product description clearly states "Apple product number: MB352LL/B. It has the safe green dot on it." Well it arrived today from CCMACCESSORIES and very much does not have the green dot, nor does it have the updated style tapered prongs. It appears to be the old style charger or an extremely close knock-off. However it plugs in and charges both my 3GS and iPod just fine. Buyer beware...

Summing things up,
By Wave King "wave king" (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Apple USB Power Adapter for iPod/iPhone (NEWEST VERSION) (Accessory)
I'm writing this review minutes after I received the item in the mail. I think I will sum up the previous reviews, as well as add some of my personal observations.
1. This product is probably fake. As mentioned in a different review, designed is spelled incorrectly (spelled 'designd') and the text is hard to read. However, it is small and portable. 2. It seems that buying this product is a gamble. Some chargers work, and others come in terrible condition. My charger came looking like new, in bubble wrap and a sealed plastic bag. Some other people came with the prongs broken, one person had theirs arrive dirty and scratched up. Consider it a 50/50 chance of getting a nicer one. 3. Once you receive the charger, whether it works or not is a different story. Again, this is a gamble (which I took because the charger cost about $[...] in total). The the worst things the charger can do are (1) not charge your device, (2) temporarily mess up your device or, as one review mentioned, (3) crash your device or computer. Some people have noted that the adapter works perfectly, some have noted that it is a scam. As of right now, the adapter is charging my iPod touch 3G 32gb. My only problem is that when i plug my ipod into it, the touch screen acts strangely (e.g. tapping and holding on the screen behaves as though i were tapping all over the screen or dragging my finger wildly, which I noticed when I was adjusting brightness and when I was going through my music library). As soon as i take my ipod out of the adapter, everything is perfectly normal. Hopefully, nothing permanent will result. 4. The green dot in the picture is not a light, it is just a green dot that isn't even visible when you plug the adapter in. 5. This does not come with a cable, just the block-like adapter. Overall I give the adapter a 3 out of 5. It charges my iPod (but I have no idea for how long, as some have said that it breaks after days, weeks, or 2 months). However, I am a little concerned about permanent damage because it causes my device to work strangely when plugged in. 5 stars for ease of use because you just plug stuff in. 2 stars for working, because it works but affects my ipod, 3 stars for being what I ordered because I expected it to be a strange product but the effects on my ipod are unexpected. Buyer beware, but I think it's worth a shot. Thanks for reading this long review.

I have read horror stories about using a non-Apple USB power adapter with iPods, so I was very happy to find this Apple adapter on Amazon. I am using it with my 2nd gen Nano. It works great and it even came with a USB cord.

I almost didn't buy this adapter because of some of the negative reviews I saw here. But thank goodness I did buy it, after all. It has repaid my gamble many times over. It works much better for charging my iPod than connecting the iPod to my computer. (I think this adapter even works faster than the computer!) I can walk away and leave my iPod charging without turning on my computer. I can even leave it charging while I take a bath or go out to run errands. When I return, my iPod is charged and ready to use again. Contrary to the negative reviews I saw here, I received the genuine Apple product, with the green dot and fancy packaging. And it works as advertised. So if you are thinking of buying this product, ignore the negative reviews and go for it -- you won't regret it.
