4.0 out of 5 stars You can't beat the price...
The Apple iPod MP3 Car Audio Auxiliary Retractable Cable 3.5mm is the cheapest auxiliary cord I could find on Amazon and I have to say it is worth it's price plus some. The sound quality sounds exactly like a cd and the retractable cord is nice. I got this to plug my ipod into my car stereo. It sounds great, much better than the iTrip with perfect clarity, but dont waste your money. It broke within seconds of use, literally. The sound quality sounds exactly like a cd and the retractable cord is nice. But one problem that kept this from being a 5 star is that the the little retractor thing broke after only 3 months of use and for no apparent reason. I definitely recommend this auxiliary cord over any other simply because of the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Again, retractor broke, May 28, 2007

If you don't mind a plain flimsy cord, this is a great ipod car connector. However, our retractor broke very quickly too. It doesn't make any real difference though, thus the four stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy for the "retractable" feature, August 13, 2007

Trust me on this, the "retractable" feature on this product lasts about one or two days before it pops apart and a little piece of metal comes flying out and your stuck with a straight cord. It still works after that happens, which is its main point anyway. It's still connecting my ipod to my computer at work via the microphone port on the computer. My home stereo has a music port with no RCA's in the back so this makes it possible to connect my ipod directly into the stereo. Despite its cheap manufacturing it remains useful after it does not retract anymore, hence the 3 star rating.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money, December 18, 2007
This review is from: Apple iPod MP3 Car Audio Auxiliary Retractable Cable 3.5mm (Electronics)
I bought this product and after two weeks, the retractor stopped retracting. Not a big problem, and I was eventually able to fix it. But now it's been a month, and the cord has pretty much stopped working. My iPod has to sit in a certain position on my lap for the sound to come in clearly to all of my speakers. It sucks! I'm planning on buying another cable from some other manufacturer, but I'm bummed that I have to throw good money after bad.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy..., February 8, 2011
This review is from: Apple iPod MP3 Car Audio Auxiliary Retractable Cable 3.5mm (Electronics)
Even tho it is two dollars, it's overpriced... I saw the price and ended up buying like six of them. Well, they last about 3 weeks each before the sound stops transmitting. The retracter fails in the first few days. One of the sound channels fails a few days after that. About a week later only one side of the audio will work. Two days later you have to hold it with a specific grip in order for one side to produce sound. And at the three week mark, nothing works no matter what you do.

Not worth 2 dollars.

Would not recommend this product. It only allowed sound from left speaker and I had to buy a new one.

2.0 out of 5 stars Work Great & Doesn't Break if You Use it Right, May 24, 2011

This review is from: Apple iPod MP3 Car Audio Auxiliary Retractable Cable 3.5mm (Electronics)
Ok first of all, I would like to dispute about what people are saying about this thing breaking. I have been using this auxiliary cable for almost 2 months & it has NOT broken. There are also clear instructions depicted on the center of they cable saying "pull from ends, not from middle". If the people who are claiming that this product breaks, it is most likely due to the fact that they cannot read instructions and probably pulled it from the middle, thus it would break. Even if it did break, it could still be useable it just wouldn't retract.

Anyway, I bought this cable to replace an old 6" auxiliary cable that I lost at college. Once I found this cable on Amazon, I was shocked to find out how cheap it was & it was rated 4 out of 5 stars. I was a little leery on buying this after reading a few reviews on how it breaks, but once I got it in the mail, I read the instructions on it right away & used it properly, so it has never broken for me. The sound quality is what I expected, not horrible, but not the most amazing thing. It works just as great as my last auxiliary cable did & I love the fact that it retracts which saves a little more room in my center console.

I updated this comment giving it a 2/5 stars because the casing around the wires inside is NOT durable at all. Fortunately, the price on this auxiliary cable was really good so I didn't care that much that it broke, but after about 6 months of use, the wiring inside the cable started to go bad & I could only hear music out of 1 speaker. I ended up replacing this with a really nice Kensington cable. But I really love the retractable concept, it's just not very durable. If you're looking for something cheap & convenient that will last you a few months, this product is perfect for you, but if you're like me & need something durable then I would definitely suggest spending the extra $5 on a nice, durable auxiliary cable. Had this cable lasted me a a year, I would've definitely given it 3-4/5 stars for being such a trooper for only $1.

I bought this so I could plug a Ipod into my car radio. It didn't work. Being that I am new to using the ipod and this item was so cheap I didn't complain or return it.

I had no problems with the seller - it got here earlier than promised, and the price was excellent. However, the cable quit working literally 8 minutes after I plugged it in for the first time.

Oh well, - you get what you pay for.
