I can't say there was anything wrong with this item, other than the fact it was not appropriate for the device on which I wanted to use it. The description does read that it is for EARLY GENERATION IPODS, and not the newer versions. Unfortunately, I didn't see that BEFORE purchasing the item. It's a shame Apple did not continue Firewire support for later IPODS. Returned the item for a refund, and will go with the USB connector.

I have an old iPod (one of the first generations), and I lost any means to sync it with my computer. Unfortunately, I couldn't just buy another iPod because this particular unit is wired to a plane, which makes it quite difficult to rewire for new technology. This product saved me.

Stupid me left one in a hotel last year. This is the replacement. Without it I can't charge the 'Pod when I travel.

Do the job, large cable, and the quality that characterizes original retail boxes from Apple

Would be fine if i knew it was fw 400 not fw 800 doesn't list it at all

positive is it is new

I ordered four of these, and none of them were authentic Apple products. How can I tell? The usual slogan written on authentic Apple iPod products goes like this: Designed by Apple in California Assembled in China *

The fake cable, purchased here says this: Designed by Apple California Assembled in China *

The 'in' printed on the fake cable is missing.

Don't buy. Not "100% genuine Apple item" as advertised.
