This keyboard is pretty much the same as the previous wired version except with shortcuts for mission control and launchpad which are available in OS X Lion. Otherwise mechanically identical to the previous model. Comfortable to type on & takes minimum amount of desk space compared to other keyboards. Numeric pad is big plus.

The Apple usb keyboard is great!!!

Apples Usb Keyboard is perfect for people who will be doing lots of data or number entry, or math homework, lol. This is also better for people who will being typing papers or documents frequently. Apple's bluetooth keyboard (as opposed to this usb keyboard) does not have a number pad, and is also significantly more cramped than this keyboard, which is why this is a better choice for work or even gaming... Plus a usb attachment is much more reliable than its bluetooth competitor.

Another plus side is that you will never go to start typing a paper or do your homework, only to remember your Apple bluetooth keyboards batteries died the night before. This has happened to me before....

If you are left handed you may want to go for the Bluetooth keyboard, because the Num pad is obviously useless.... Also, if you plan to use a long usb extender, you may just want to buy the wireless apple keyboard. I have had issue with this keyboard loosing power using a 3 or 4 foot usb extension. (another thing is if you are a neat freak you want to buy a keyboard cover, the white keys of this keyboard get really gross fast!!!)

The bottom line is if you don't mind the usb cord and want to save a little cash, buy this keyboard.

If you want the ease of wireless, don't plan to enter a lot of numbers, or write lengthy papers and the extra cash isn't an issue. Go for the Bluetooth Apple Keyboard!!!

I'm using this keyboard on Windows 7 PC. I love the feeling.
Not all keys map exactly to the Windows environment but there's more keys than needed so I'm using SharpKeys to remap some unused keys.
I own two, one for home one for the office.
Love it

This keyboard uses "chicklet" keys for the keyboard. The keys are perfectly and for a touch typist it's somewhat difficult to locate where you are of the keyboard. There are 2 small raised areas on the f & j keys but they are at the bottom not the center of the key making it difficult to locate your place on the keyboard. Those are my complaints. As for the good the keyboard is quite responsive and I am able to type at a 80 to 90 wpm pace so long as I don't have to type a lot of symbols. The layout itself is a mac standard keyboard and the placement of the fn key is a little awkward because it's not accessed without taking eyes of the screen. I know I say a lot about by touch but when you are using the keyboard and attempting to get a lot of information entered it's almost a requirement in order to hit deadlines. I've had the keyboard for almost a year and it has done well. The flat keys make it difficult for dust or other particles to get into the keyboard which is a good thing. I can't begin to tell you how many keyboards I have flipped over and had everything but the kitchen sink fall out of them. The keyboard also has 2 low powered USB ports on either side of the unit making it easy to plug in a usb mouse (I have a logitech mouse with the nano receiver and it fits nicely.)

March 2014 Update: Still using this keyboard and it has been a sturdy unit, all keys continue to function without issue, with the amount of use, wear and tear this keyboard has had on it i'm raising my rating to 5 stars. (I normally would give it 4.5 stars, but the beating this has endured has proven itself and the investment)

I purchased this keyboard to use with my Macbook Air. I use this keyboard on a daily basis.

As a software developer, this keyboard is a must have. It gives the user a true backspace key as well as a delete key, a home and end key, and a full numeric keypad.

The extra usb port located on the underside of the keyboard is a thoughtful bonus. It is a perfect location for a wireless mouse USB adapter.

There is no downside to owning this keyboard.

I have always purchased a low cost, budget type keyboard for my MAC, they worked but never too well. Finally, I decided to purchase the Apple Keyboard, and now I keep asking myself, why did I wait so long.....?? This keyboard has the feel, and touch, of quality. Many keys control MAC functions, which I find very helpful. The more I use it, the more I am loving it....................Hey, all you MAC Mini people, this is the one for you........!!

This keyboard is corded but, I like the numeric keys on the side for the calculator while balancing my check book. I have a glass top desk with a keyboard slide shelf underneath the the glass. Did not think of it before purchase but, now I have the keyless board and the Magic Trackpad on top of the desk and the wired keyboard and the Magic Mouse on the slide shelf under the glass desk top. Use whatever you like best or if the batteries go in the wireless you still have this corded keyboard to seamlessly backup on. This keyboard also has two USB ports - External drive, I-phone sync and power up or anything USB. Oh by the way it passed my wifes test-it is 'pretty and matches'
