This review is from: Apple Lane: Two Beginning Scenarios - Gringle's Pawnshop & The Rainbow Mounds (Runequest) (Paperback)
This was the scenario that first introduced me to Runequest. Its simplicity is both a strength and a weakness. While it is easy to run, easy to understand, and easy to adapt to new players. On the other hand, it is not the most robust or interesting scenario. Still, it is so well written and focused that it is the perfect scenario to use for players first campaign using the Runequest system. While the retro, typewritten feel is cool, this one could use a modern re-write and updated graphics. Now if I could just remember the words to that song our DM wrote to the tune of Penny Lane..."In Apple Lane there is a trollkin with an arbalest, and a Pawn Shoppe owner with a tale of woe..." |
