Apple M8433 Replacement Laptop Battery

It is my own fault for buying the cheapest (at the time) ibook battery on amazon. I didn't want to pay the $120+ for a genuine apple product for this aging laptop. But it was a false economy, this battery worked OK for a month or 2, giving approximately 3 hours run-time at first. (The apple battery when new would give appx. 4 hours.)

But the run time gradually decreased. And about a month ago it took a fast nose-dive. It started to not charge fully, stopping at 90%, 80%, etc rapidly, now it will charge to no more than 39% and it runs down to appx 25% and dies hard, without going to sleep! Maybe 15 - 20 mins run-time max. At this rate in another week or 2 it will be defunct.

I of course tried every known trouble-shooting tip; resetting the PMU multiple times, resetting PRAM, making sure to run it down completely and recharge it completely. I have tested another known to be good charger, with no improvement. According to the system info it has had 117 charging cycles. The apple battery is rated to do several times that.

I have emailed power_direct 3 times and have had no response! And now that it is too late, I see that they only have a 30 day return policy and don't claim any warranty on this or any of their batteries.

And it is too late for me to offer feedback on the reseller, so I have only the recourse of posting here. I recommend you think twice before buying this battery, and patronizing power_direct.

I have the same experience as N. Parker. I bought this less than six months ago and its performance has een erratic and the maximum charge has been declining rapidly. Instead of hibernating, when the battery level drops the machine just shuts down altogether. I'm going to get a proper Apple battery now. The savings was not worth it.
