5.0 out of 5 stars No one seems to get it. Small ears, folks!
The number one reason to get these earphone is because, for some of us, the standard size earbuds HURT. Those of us who were cursed with small ears simply cannot tolerate those awful earbuds that come with iPods. TG these were invented. Simply select the smallest silicone covering, pop it in your ear and, ah, comfort. I don't give a hoot if I'm getting perfection in high...

2.0 out of 5 stars Great sound, horrible durability.
That's right, horrible. I am a music fiend and have been using these headphones on a daily basis. After owning it for about a month, the right earphone started to FALL APART. I am never buying another pair of apple headphones, ever again.

5.0 out of 5 stars No one seems to get it. Small ears, folks!, April 22, 2009
This review is from: Apple M9394G/C In-Ear Headphones (Electronics)
The number one reason to get these earphone is because, for some of us, the standard size earbuds HURT. Those of us who were cursed with small ears simply cannot tolerate those awful earbuds that come with iPods. TG these were invented. Simply select the smallest silicone covering, pop it in your ear and, ah, comfort. I don't give a hoot if I'm getting perfection in high fidelity, I just don't want an earache when I'm done listening. (I don't think the sound is bad at all, BTW.)

I also found out I'm not alone. Many people have this same problem, which makes me wonder why Apple has not stocked more of these at their stores or offered them free if you trade in your regular earbuds. This is not a kid's issue. I'm a fully grown, middle-aged adult, and small ears are a big problem for me. Lots of people with mini ear canals are big people too. I don't know why no one has picked up on this before.

The only downside to these earphones is that they are rather fragile and tangle like crazy. They can break off between the silicone covering and the wiring for the earphone. Treat them with care. I've had to order two pair already. (There are cases available for them and I suggest you get one.) Now my sister (average size) is complaining about her own small ears, so I've got to order another pair for her. I'm just thanking my lucky stars that there's a cheap alternative out there to combat the one-size-fits all mentality. Someone has to pay attention to those of us who aren't average.

Okay, the dog loves chewing these buggers! Is it the silicone? Probably, or the dog is just weird!
Anyway, I have owned other earbuds, all have fallen out at one point or another while exercising! These buds come with three different sizes and stay in place!!! Buy them and you won't be disappointed. It's worth the $40.00. Nice storage case too. This is my second purchase, and only because the dog chewed them up, but they have not lost their ability to stay in and the sound quality is fine with me.

5.0 out of 5 stars 1-3 Star Ratings Are From Users That DID NOT USE The Product CORRECTLY!, December 1, 2008
This review is from: Apple M9394G/C In-Ear Headphones (Electronics)
Anyone who gives these headphones under a 4 star rating is NOT using them correctly. I'm fairly experienced in the technical side of audio equipment, and these headphones are excellent for the money. The frequency response is amazing, and under the right conditions, rivals a stereo system. I have extensive experience using these headphones, after four years of extremely pleased use.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
First, please note that using these headphones with an iPod or any other MP3 player is NOT using them to their full potential. iPods and other players do not send a wide range of frequencies (making the bass sound bad or compressed). To get the full potential of these headphones, buy a Creative Labs Xmod USB Sound Card for PC & Mac, and use it in conjunction with iTunes' equalizer set correctly. Then, when putting these earphones in, you must push them in far enough so they make a seal in your ear canal. You may have to change the rubber part (the ones included in the case are small and large sizes) to create the best seal. You will know when they are pushed in far enough because you will not be able to hear outside noises as well (essentially the same effect as putting your finger in your ear). Finally, make sure the room is quiet (so you get the full effect) and play your favorite song. There is no way you can give this product less than 4-stars after using them correctly, their bass response is stronger than ANY other affordable headphones on the market. However, be aware, that these headphones are directly in your ear canal, prolonged exposure to exceptionally loud music this far in your ear WILL CAUSE permanent hearing damage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Know how to use them and you'll love them, April 25, 2009
This review is from: Apple M9394G/C In-Ear Headphones (Electronics)
I lost my first pair and am now buying another pair. I bought these out of a vending machine because I forgot to bring my Bose headphones on a trip with me. I expected mediocre headphones but was blown away and actually sold my Bose headphones to keep these. I own my own recording studio and have worked with many different headphones. These are exceptional, and for the price they're offered at they're near unbelievable. I would pay over $80 for these in a heartbeat but you can get them for $20.

Most people say they don't like them at first but that's only because they don't know how to use them. You have to push them solidly into your ear so that they fill your ear canal and block out everything else. Once you put them in properly you can barely hear anything else.

These headphones have incredible clarity, a very rich and full sound, an impressive Bass response, great frequency coverage, and with the exception of some extra Bass compensation, are actually surprisingly balanced - something ofter hard to find in headphones.

I came on here looking to buy another pair and saw some of the negative reviews and couldn't help but comment. These headphones are excellent quality and I couldn't give them a higher recommendation. The only reason not to buy them is if you are shopping in the $100+ range.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Buy!, October 26, 2008

Well, it seems that these either work for you or they don't.

I personally love mine. They work well to cancel out noise, are super comfortable, and won't fall out when I'm bouncing around in the gym. For small little earbuds, they pack quite the punch! I noticed my ipod battery lasted longer because I can keep the volume level low. I also like them because other people aren't bothered by them (have you ever noticed that you can hear what other people are listening to with some headphone products? I find that annoying). The price is pretty steep - but the product is of good quality. I've had mine for at least two years now and they still look brand new. I bought them because the headphones that come with the ipod give me a horrible ear ache.

However if you're looking for top-of-the-line headphone quality where the highest high and the lowest low of pitches carry through, you should perhaps look elsewhere. These just aren't of Boise music quality (yet again I don't think many people would use their Boise noise-cancelling headphones at the gym... so if you're looking for something a bit more casual, this is your product).

I bought this product so I can avoid outside noise. However; compared with the set of headphones that came with the unit, this headphone is inferior in sound. The speaker is much smaller and you lose quality, especially bass. Better to stick with something on line that comes with the unit that is larger in speaker size.

I bought his as a replacement for the one came with my iPod. The sound quality is poor(I listen to classical music). The sound is tinny in higher register. The fit is another problem. The small ones fall out of my ear, mid-size one is too tight, etc. I'm disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars These headphones are awesome, January 4, 2012

I've tried tons of different headphones and I always come back to these. Beware though, there are cheap knockoffs that say for Apple Ipod, those are garbage. You need to buy the Apple brand ones. This is my third pair, I've lost a pair, my cat chewed a pair and this pair won't be left anywhere unsafe. If you know how to wear these, you'll love them, just know that it's not supposed to go all the way in your ear, the silicon is supposed to create a vacuum to prevent sound from escaping or entering. If you get the right fit, they're great.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sounds good - ergonomically challenging, March 31, 2010

There are those who insist that if you don't like this product, you're not doing it right. I am familiar with and far prefer earbuds as a member of the human race that wears glasses. These headphones sound solid, but they do not rest comfortably in the ear. The speaker and noise-cancelling piece are more rounded as opposed to the common cylindrical style seen in most in-ear earbuds, and as a result, these do a poor job of staying put. The seal seems to lose strength over time, and with this type of earbud, the seal is everything.

I am now using Creative EP-630 earphones, and I finally have an in-ear unit I prefer to all other options. These old Apple earbuds are not worth $40.
