I love apple products.. they are the next best thing as cheese singles.. but their laptop batteries get old fast.
Thankfully they still sell these batteries because my macbook has a lot of good remaining life.

PS: I got a generic battery from ebay that was half the price and the thing lasted two months... dont waste your money and go with the original battery.

The photo of the item was clearly a matte finish, but the item I received was high-gloss. Also, it was hard to get the battery to fit. It did wind up fitting but we had to push to get it in. Oddly enough, it is labeled as an apple part, but frankly, I think it is counterfeit. I can not say that I'm totally dissatisfied, because it is working, but it was definately NOT what I expected. If I were to order again, I would order from someone else - probably Apple directly (I feel like I got burned, and just don't trust this process of buying sight unseen).

The description on this item is very misleading. It clearly states that the battery is made by Apple, but it is not. Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with purchasing an aftermarket battery, but I am not going to pay the same price as a factory battery from Apple. The reason I purchased through Amazon is because I am a Prime member (free 2 day shipping) and they were running a sale on this battery. And I thought it was a factory part.
I have attempted to reach PortaCell via email and phone, several times, with no luck. Now I guess I am going to have to go through Amazon to get my item refunded.

like many of the other negative reviews here, Item was a cheap knock off that didn't fit properly. Item is a glossy finish and is misshapen compared to the actual macbook battery that the item is listed as. If I wanted a cheap knock off I would have bought one for less than this one. Hopefully any future buyers take the time to look as these reviews so they don't fall for the posted photo of an actual macbook battery and wind up sorely disappointed. If the item is not BY Apple, it should not be listed as BY APPLE.

It's pretty simple - just a replacement battery, but it has the usual Apple high quality build and ease of use. It arrived quickly and is working well!

They say it's by Apple. But it's not. Period. Don't buy it. Go elsewhere.

It does not even fit the computer.

I can't believe Amazon allows this crap.

I don't usually write reviews but I feel it is my duty to warn all people out there not to purchase this battery. It is advertised as if it is officially from Apple but it is not. It is a low quality 3rd party battery. The first one I received went through 7 load cycles before it stopped charging and even though they fulfilled the warranty and sent a replacement, the new one DOESN'T WORK. I am extremely frustrated. DO NOT BUY THIS BATTERY! I am demanding a refund to go buy one from apple since they are the same price.

I am a traveling man and when I order something and it says its arriving on a certain day at a certain time and gets delayed for a week I get disapointed! I find out later they are out of it and don't have a single one until one week later when I would get it as early as the 4 days after it would ship. This is now a total of 2 and 1/2 weeks delivery time. When I ordered it read "in stock" so it should of shipped out asap.

Then when it gets on my doorstep it doesn't function properly and it made my computer shut down every time within 10 seconds of startup. Not good. Complained, they'd replace it, 1 week later I get another one. This one works okay... if my comuter is plugged in and I'm charging it while its in "sleep", my computer shuts down if the charger wire is disconnected.

Save time and money and energy... its not worth it... just get the oem battery. I may never order from these guys again and I'm not gonna return it because I'm tired of corresponding with them and don't want to mail something back to get another shotty battery.

All in all I'm a little flustered and not happy.

On time, as promised...which unfortunately in this web driven world is no given. Thanks for simply doing what you said.

Third one I've had in 5 years of using my trusty old MacBook. It doesn't really breathe any remarkable new life into it, but it works as advertised.
