Product Description

Product Description

Thunderbolt technology supports blazing-fast data transfer with two independent channels of 10 Gbps each. Use the Apple Thunderbolt Cable to connect your Thunderbolt-equipped peripherals to your iMac, Mac mini, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air.
With Thunderbolt, you get superfast data transfer speeds and huge expansion capabilities. It features two 10-Gbps data channels per port, which means data transfer is up to twice as fast as USB 3 and up to 12 times faster than FireWire 800.

From the Manufacturer

Apple's Thunderbolt cable enables you to connect a Thunderbolt-compatible Mac with Thunderbolt-equipped peripherals such as hard drives, displays, video capture devices, and more. Thunderbolt technology supports blazing-fast data transfer with two independent channels of 10 gigabits per second (Gbit/s) each. The Thunderbolt cable can also be used for Target Disk Mode between two Macs that support Thunderbolt. It measures 2 meters in length (78.75 inches).

Compatible Apple Computers

MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini (2011 release and later)

Revolutionary Thunderbolt Technology

Developed by Intel with collaboration from Apple, high-speed Thunderbolt I/O (input/output) technology delivers an amazing 10 gigabits per second of transfer speeds in both directions. The Thunderbolt port allows you to connect to new Thunderbolt-compatible peripherals as well as existing USB and FireWire peripherals using simple adapters. You'll be able to move data up to 20 times faster than with USB 2.0 and more than 12 times faster than with FireWire 800, and you can daisy-chain up to six high-speed devices without using a hub. Thunderbolt also supports DisplayPort for high resolution displays and works with existing adapters for HDMI, DVI, and VGA displays.

Customer Reviews

You really can't say anything bad about Apple.

I use this cable with the LaCie 3.0 TB Thunderbolt/USB 3.0 external Hard Drive and it works perfectly.
Gimparoo
Unfortunately, like all Apple products, this cable was very pricey.

Well I can't knock the cord, but just know if you're buying this to link something with a MiniDisplay Port to a Thunderbolt machine to make it a second monitor–it won't work. The two MUST be lightning bolt icons to match. If you have a square flanked by two vertical lines, this will not do the job for you (if that job is making your Late 2009 27" iMac a second monitor for your new MacBook Pro).

I bought this Thunderbolt cable to use with my Seagate Backup Plus Desktop Thunderbolt Adapter (STAE129). I wavered between the 2-meter length and the shorter one, and settled on this because I felt it would give me versatility later on if I decided to move my device or use the cable on something else. Because this is a genuine Apple product, it seems well-built and sturdy.

The speed of Thunderbolt is something to behold. The first time I used the technology, I couldn't believe how quickly files transferred. The connection speed is fast enough to run media and applications off the drive as though they were running off the computer itself.

Excellent cables. Used it to daisy-chain three Thunderbolt drives for system backup, etc on my Apple MacBook Pro. Would recommend these cables to anyone.

We've tried Apple knock-offs. They simply don't hold up. This length is the most versatile for most of our editing needs at our workstations.

This Thunderbolt cable works perfectly for me. It is the 2.0m version and I used it briefly to connect a BlackMagic Intensity Shuttle to my MacBook Pro (mid-2012).

Works as described. I use to connect WD 6TB Thunderbolt Drive to my 2013 Imac 27 with a 3TB internal drive. Quiet and fast.

Only cable I would actually trust. Unfortunately, like all Apple products, this cable was very pricey. Having said that, there are many generic cables out there but none of them which are reliable.

I'm always impressed with Apple's packaging. It's so simple and elegant- the way packaging should be. Nothing pisses me off more than cable companies that insist on using those plastic packs that require a chainsaw to cut open- and no doubt you always end up cutting yourself getting it open.
