And GarageBand gives you everything you need to make a great-sounding song—including tools for keeping your song in perfect rhythm and guitar and piano lessons.

iWork, Apple's office productivity suite, is the easiest way to create documents, spreadsheets, and presentations the Mac way. Pages is both a streamlined word processor and an easy-to-use page layout application. It allows you to be a writer one minute and a designer the next, always with a perfect document in the works. Numbers, with its great-looking templates, easy-to-create formulas, and dynamic tables and charts, gives you simple ways to make sense of your data. Use Keynote to create your presentations, and you'll be a hard act to follow. Its powerful yet easy-to-use tools and dazzling effects put the show in slideshow. Easy Upgrade for a Mac Novice!,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Apple Mac Box Set Family Pack (OLD VERSION) (DVD-ROM)
We purchased our Mac in 2008 to create videos and other fun stuff. So far, it only holds my iTunes library, and photos to create Christmas cards. In other words, we don't use it much, so every time I turn it on, it's an adventure. When I found out I could no longer buy cards with iPhoto 6, and that an OS and iLife upgrade were necessary, I was terrified, because PC upgrades are almost always a pain. I consulted with the folks at an Apple store, and purchased this product on Amazon, because Apple no longer sells it. Was happy to see "Only for Intel-based Mac computers with Mac OS X Leopard or Mac OS X Tiger" right on the box. Then I sat down at the Mac.To my relief, the installation went flawlessly! Insert disc, follow prompts. After upgrading my Tiger OS to Snow Leopard OS, I made sure my iTunes library was still there, then I checked for software updates. I did receive the message that I was not connected to the net, but I just re-entered my info and was able to continue. I did not install iWorks, because we do not use that program. Installed iLife, checked for more updates and all was fine. Total upgrade time was about 4 hours, 15 minutes, but I was able to do other stuff during downloads/installations. Nice to know when it says "30 minutes left," it really is 30 minutes! When purchasing, make sure to buy the package with iLife '11 - it has purple, blue, green and orange squares on the front of the box. Now that I have more exciting goodies to work with, I think I'll finally be getting down to making videos! Woo Woo!

I just upgraded my OS to Snow and it's just amazing, the family package is really good value for money compared to the single one. Try to get friends to share the cost of it.

5 licenses for Snow leopard, iLife and iWork.Handy if you have multiple macs in your household. Newer macs come with iLife, but iWork needs to be purchased separately.
