I was stupid enough to buy the other version of the armband, the one without the window. I ended up manually cutting a hole in the thing so I could see the window, at which point the entire armband started falling apart.
This time, Nike got it right. The product fits well, is well made and perhaps most importantly, it has a window so you can see the nano's screen while you are running, or stopping for a quick sip of water. The nano with adapter fit well in the sleeve, and the buttons line up properly. It was easy to use the ipod while on the move, and I felt confident I wasn't going to accidentally stop my run or change my playlist to my kids Wiggles tunes. I recommend throwing the prior version you bought in the trash. This will make you happy and is well worth the $30. Enjoy!

I can't believe how hard it is to find an armband for the ipod nano that accommodates the Nike+ adaptor!! This is one of only three ipod nano armbands I've been able to find that works with the Nike+ system. (the others are from Active Sport and Sportsuit Relay by Marware, which I think is the best one). Most armbands don't allow use of the Nike+ system.
Nike has done a good job with improving this armband, but it is still difficult to get the iPod with the adaptor all the way into the pouch, and then you have to take out the ipod each time you want to download your run. (This is one reason why the Marware product is better). I'm considering cutting a slit in the bottom so that I can leave the ipod in the sleeve and just take out the adaptor to download or plug in the ipod. Otherwise, it's comfortable and fits well on my upper arm. I was given this armband as a gift so I guess I will try it out. We'll see how long it lasts!

Nice product, but probably costs $15 for the armband and $15+ for the Nike swoosh, but I still bought one!,

I use my armband about 3-4x/week. It's comfortable, holds my ipod securely, and, amazingly, lets me access and use the ipod wheel controls while it's encased in this polyester, nylon, and spandex coccoon.
Plusses: 1) The wide armband keeps my ipod from swinging around on my arm the way my former narrower armband used to do. 2) The large velcro patches provide a secure closure. 3) The band is comfortable on my arm - the spandex sees to that. 4) It's easily adjustable with the large velcro patches. 5) The window allows me to see what's on. 6) The fabric provides enough resistance to hold my ipod securely, yet it also allows the wheel control its complete functionality. I can change tracks easily, and adjust the volume control as well. Minuses: 1) Cost...as indicated in the title of this review, I think you pay a lot for the Nike swoosh. 2) There is not a convenient way to wind up, shorten, or secure extra headphone cord. 3) Um...that's about it. There are many more plusses than minuses with this unit. All in all I'm extremely pleased with this unit, and if it weren't for the high price I'd give it 5 stars. But since this unit comes with a significant price tag I need to knock off one star.

The Apple Nike+ Armband fits around my arm perfectly. It is nice and snug and doesn't move when I am running. The iPod fits in the case nice and snug as well so it doesn't move either. The buttons marked on the case match up perfectly with the buttons on the iPod. It's a nice feature that the center button pops out, making it easy to find. The design on the armband is nice and I would definitely recommend this armband to the avid runner.

When I decided to purchase the Nike+ system, I picked up one of these armbands too. It's a perfect fit for the Nano, and doesn't slide off your arm at all. It's very comfortable! I also like that it's washable, as runners' armbands get dirty and sweaty pretty quickly! It's at kind of a weird angle for being able to read the screen while running. I've also accidentally hit the center button when trying to skip a track. I figure these issues are normal with most cases, and as I get used to it, it'll pass. Overall, I definitely recommend it, especially for runners :)

My thoughts:
-As some reviewers have mentioned, this armband does not line up with the 4G models, it was designed for 1G and 2G models which have smaller screens and a lower scroll wheel. I think Nike and/or Amazon could do a bit better job advertising that, as it may be confusing for some. -This band accomodates the Nike+ adaptor (it is made by Nike ;-) ), which not all do. -The stretchy material is very comfortable, nothing cuts into your arm and it fits comfortably well. Some people with larger arms may find it too small, though. It also does a good job of wicking water away, some more "waterproof" models I've seen do a better job of keeping water in than out. -I enjoyed the improvement of having the visible screen over the last model Nike made. Beats having to cut out the music just to listen to time/distance updates. -The scroll wheel is a bit harder to use, it requires a different amount of pressure than you would normally use without the material between. -Cord management can be an issue. I wrap the excess around part of the velcro strap to keep it contained, which requires quite a bit of one-handed dexterity. Overall, this band works very well for my use, it's comfortable for longer runs and allows for enough usage while on the go. |
