fits well, even on my pudgy arms...,

This review is from: Apple Nike+ Sport Armband for iPod nano 1G, 2G (Electronics)
I understand the frustration by some concerning the lack of a display function - but think about it - once you start moving, you do not need to look at the display - the audio tells you how far you're going. The nano itself is positioned on the outside of your arm - which means if there was a window for the display, you couldn't see it anyway.
I think the firmware in the Nike+ module needs to be updated so you get audio feedback on what menu you're pressing - so you can make adjustments while moving/running/crawling w/o having to pull the unit out of the case. Nike has actually done a lot of research to come out w/ patented fabrics that wisk away moisture - the nano fits in there w/ the module like a glove. With this on my fat arm, I could barely feel the thing. I've tried other armbands and this is the most comfortable one I've ever used. My less than perfect rating is for the hole for accessing the audio port needs to be a tad bigger or at least ribbed w/ a gasket or something. During movement, it can shift and the thin fabric can get between the earbud connector and the audio jack, slightly separating the two and causing yucky sound quality. Also, it would be nice if there was an XXL model for folks w/ bigger arms. This one fits me fine, but if someone w/ arms like the Governator wants to use this - good luck to you. I would also have appreciated some sort of channel for cord for the earbuds to follow. I may start wearding armband upside down so the earbuds can go up my sleeve naturally instead of awkwardly down, then back up. I was aware of the cord to the earbuds rubbing along my arm during my walk. The inside of the armband has silkscreened washing instructions. The scrollwheel, select button and clickwheel work like a charm through the fabric. I see why most people would initially balk at the design - but I do believe the shortcomings are more w/ the software limitations - this lightweight armband is really well designed - it's durable, but you cannot even feel it when it's on.

Doesn't work well for runners.,

I don't want to flame this device, but for me it doesn't work well at all. It is a very tight fit for the ipod, it makes it hard to get in and out.
Once in, it is almost impossible to use the ipod, the cover doesn't line up well and often causes you to do the wrong action. Using the dial is almost impossible. The hole at the bottom for the speaker wire is not fitted correctly so it causes the wire to become disconnected easily. In short don't buy this product.

"Nike dropped the ball" DO NOT BUY!! Better options out there...,

Like many of you are thinking about, I bought this through a website (Apple). I bought it based on the name brand, partnerships, and design (I must admit, it is a very nice design - in theory) figuring, "Hey, Nike invented this additional sensor and must have figured out a way to fit into a nice little package...I'll spend $30." IT DOESN'T FIT CORRECTLY & YOU CANNOT SEE THE SCREEN. This armband is NOT FUNCTIONAL!
I even tried to make it work by fitting some tissue at the bottom to raise it to its "intended" position, but inevitably the tissue shifted during the run. I used the Nike+ armband a total of three times over a 10-mile period and IT CAUSED PROBLEMS DURING EACH RUN. First, I had trouble adjusting the volume. Second, I accidentally kept pausing my workout trying to play my "Power Song" (center button on Nano). Third, on my longest run, just today, I accidentally erased the workout trying to end the workout without taking the Nano out of its case (I still don't know how I did this). I was so frustrated after that third negative occurrence that I immediately went out and bought a different case. I'm not going to name drop, but just type in NIKE+ armband and there are several other options (okay, I will name drop). My favorite, (especially because I did not want to purchase the Nike+ shoes) was the Marware Sportsuit Relay; this set comes with a neoprene Nike+ sensor pouch (to attach to your current running shoes) and a wrist/arm band that covers the entire Nano with room for the additional Nike+ transmitter. Bottom Line - Nike+ system and partnership with Apple Nano = AWESOME! Honestly works perfect and I couldn't be happier so far, but don't give Nike any more $ for this specific armband. Hopefully we will see enough bad reports, and Nike will come out with a new, more functional design.

Works perfectly, and I have HUGE arms!,

Did any of the other reviewers follow the directions? This kit works great! I used this plus the Nike+ sensor kit and an Ipod Nano (1st gen) to train for USMC OCS and it worked like a charm. And at 6'2", 220lbs and a 270PFT I have HUGE upper arms!!
It is designed for one thing: holding the Nano&Nike+ sensor to your arm while running, and it keeps it nice and tight and flush, even when doing other exercises and crosstraining. The case is very thin and light, it is DESIGNED to be!!! It basically straps the ipod as tightly as possible to your arm, which I thought was great. Anyway, I think the other reviewers are idiots, this is a great case for runners of just about any size.

The other negative reviews are correct. Too small, can't see screen, the fit is so tight it affects the wheel. I spent $30 dollars on a little strip of cloth that actually makes my nano and nike+ useless. If this was designed and made by some 3rd party it would make a little bit of sense, but as it is, I have no idea how they screwed this up so badly.

You might as well just get the new black & grey one,

I thought to myself - I won't need to see the screen while I run. I'll just set my playlist ahead of time and go. And it's true, you could go that route. The product works fine that way. BUT - a few times I found that my playlist was too short, or I wanted to listen to something else. Also, while the Nike+ system does update you every .5 miles or so on your progress, I find having your distance monitored can be a little bit addictive like running on a treadmill. I constantly want to see how much I have done, how much I have left, and what my pace is. If you're like me in that respect, this is not your best bet. Quite simply, you need to stop running and at least partially remove your nano from the sleeve - which puts it at least a little bit at risk for a drop. The new grey and black Nike+ sport armband has a window to get rid of this problem. Obviously they made a new one because they did not think to address it in advance. Is it functional - yes. Is it the best option out there - not anymore.

Don't waste your money. You cannot see the screen it doesn't line up well with the outside cover so you can use your dial. It shifts and turns the volume up to full blast.

I'm not a fan of armbands, but it seems that they are the only things that you can use with the Nike+ system. This armband stays in place and I hardly feel it there.

I don't like that the old style (the one I happened to buy) would not allow you to adjust volume and see the screen. I cut holes in the armband to accomodate that ... Not what I expected from Nike - great technology, lack of design.

The armband works fine, but it is such a pain! You can't see the screen, it is hard to control the volume, pause, etc... through the fabric and you have to take it out anytime you want to do something. I understand that this is the one with room for the iPod/Nike attachment, but I would try to figure out another solution with a different armband.
