4.0 out of 5 stars Great radio reception but drains battery
Radio works well, easy to use, reasonable price and has good reception. Also comes with a set of earbuds.

All you have to do is plug this baby in and you get a radio option on the main menu. When in radio mode you can set station presets easily and if the station you are listening to supports RDS you will see the song information displayed.

1.0 out of 5 stars Pretty nice while it lasted...
$50 is steep for a mp3 remote, radio tuner or not. I decided to bite the bullet and pick it up anyway as I new I would get tons of use out of it at work. Which I did for about six months. Around the 5 month mark I noticed that I'd have to push the buttons two or three times before they'd register the command. Then it started to not carry the sound through, I would have to...

There are a couple minor complaints with it worth mentioning. First you cannot charge your ipod while listening to the radio as the radio plugs into the dock connector. Second, it really drains battery life. I haven't done any formal testing but my non-scientific observation would put battery drain at 2x or greater of normal music listening usage .

Then it started to not carry the sound through, I would have to unplug it and plug it back into the ipod. Finally, it just stopped working. A co-worker bought one a few months after I did and his stopped working about a month ago.

I expect that kind of "craftsmanship" from a third party, knock off, company. I paid the extra money for quality and something that would work seamlessly with their product. I'd think twice about buying this device, or at least wait until it gets closer to the $20 range.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product, though a bit pricey, July 18, 2007
This review is from: Apple Radio Remote for iPod (White) (Electronics)
Radio functions are really handy to have, though I've discovered I use it more as a remote control for my iPod.

The volume control on the remote has proven to be very handy for when playing Mahjongg.

Radio features are minimal, but I can't think of what features would add more usefulness.

$50, though? It's a bit steep, but then again, so is the price of an 80G iPod. Certainly a toy marked to those who can afford the expensive toys.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's works in cubicle environment!!!, November 27, 2007
This review is from: Apple Radio Remote for iPod (White) (Electronics)
I was skeptical about this accessory working for me where I work because I am in the middle of a floor with a hundred other people, all in cubicles and other electronics, and not near a window. The reception was awesome! No static...no sound fading. It worked perfectly. If you work in a similar environment, don't hesitate in getting this attachment if you want to add a radio to your iPod.

Definitely the Apple Radio Remote is a great asset for the your iPod but has plenty of room for improvement.

1. Reception is not that great, and if you are confined within walls forget about listening to the radio.

2. An important feature is missing!
You should be able to switch, from this remote,
between listening to your iPod's playlist and listening to the radio. Instead you have to go to your iPod's menu and select MUSIC or RADIO and that sort of defeats the purpose of this "remote", doesn't it?

Still very happy with the new and useful feature it adds to my iPod.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little product, May 16, 2007
This review is from: Apple Radio Remote for iPod (White) (Electronics)
Great little product and seems to be designed well. I bought a knock off on e-bay and then found out that it was not the same. Don't buy a knock off spend the extra money to buy the real thing. You can even go to e-bay and get it for about $40.00.

It also has great reception and nice radio features.

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful but optional remote control for your iPods, September 12, 2009
This review is from: Apple Radio Remote for iPod (White) (Electronics)
Before i begin, it doesn't work on an iPhone (and maybe not on iPod touch too). I purchased this remote control for my iPod Classic / Video but didn't use much because of its size. It is as good as a shuffle hanging on your shirt/t-shirt (maybe thats why it doesn't sell much). But it does enable Radio functionality in your iPod. If you love radio, get this from a store front at Amazon at less price ($49.99 is just too costly). You get earphones too with it but they are not as long as your regular iPod earphones. Only if you get a good deal like 50% off and you wanna have remote control with radio, get it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Good when it works, but unreliable, January 24, 2009
This review is from: Apple Radio Remote for iPod (White) (Electronics)
Works well when it works -- easy to use and pretty good reception compared to other low cost mp3 players I have owned. An integrated radio would be a much cleaner solution -- sometimes the cable length is a pain and things can get tangled with the remote -- but the volume and navigation controls on the remote can be handy at times. The remote has a clip that helps. It does drain the battery at a noticeably faster rate but for my moderate use this was never really a problem.

My only real complaint is that, after a few months, the radio would sometimes just not work. The player would not recognize it when it was plugged in, despite repeated tries. Then, some time later, it would be fine. This problem got worse and worse until now, about a year after I bought the unit, I very rarely can get it to work. Enough people seem to have this problem that I cannot recommend the product. Disappointing.

I tried some cheaper remote radios first before getting this one. It was worth it to have clear reception. It's also nice that you can easily add and remove presets and there doesn't seem to be a limit to the number of presets.

Only bad part about this is it kills battery life on nano. I can run fm radio for only about 3 hrs before nano needs a recharge. It is also way too expensive. You could buy a separate am/fm radio for the price.
