The follow-on to Apple Training Series: Mac OS X Deployment v10.6 and Apple Training Series: Mac OS X Directory Services v10.6, this volume takes an in-depth look at the many options provided to administrators to secure access to intranet services. System administrators and other IT professionals will learn how to configure Mac OS X Server v10.6 to provide secure access to vital network services such as web, mail, and calendar from mobile devices such as the iPhone. The Providing Network Services section covers establishing critical network services such as DNS, DHCP, and NAT/Gateway services. Systems & Services focuses on connecting private and public networks securely using firewalls, certificates and VPNs. Finally, the Working with Mobile Devices section teaches students how to successfully configure Snow Leopard Server’s Mobile Access Server and securely deploy intranet services such as web, mail, and calendar services to mobile devices, such as the iPhone, without the need for VPN services.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great help with Security and certificates, December 30, 2010

This review is from: Apple Training Series: Mac OS X Security and Mobility v10.6: A Guide to Providing Secure Mobile Access to Intranet Services Using Mac OS X Server v10.6 Snow Leopard (Paperback)
Of course, this is the official book for an Apple certification course and as such it has chapters dictated by the Apple course requirements. The first chapters on Network Services in fact expand on the OSX Server book, covering DNS, DHCP and NAT. The books usefulness goes far beyond that. The chapters on Security Systems and Services are the best part. Especially valuable is the chapter about Keys and Certificates. You will find all the info you need and more. It is difficult to find this in any other publication.

2.0 out of 5 stars slim, December 11, 2010
This review is from: Apple Training Series: Mac OS X Security and Mobility v10.6: A Guide to Providing Secure Mobile Access to Intranet Services Using Mac OS X Server v10.6 Snow Leopard (Paperback)
While this is a fine book it is quite slim for such a high priced book. I have the Mac OS X 10.6 Support Essentials. Which at 676 pages is more than twice as large as this 315 pages volume. They are both the same price! Ludicrous! Also, unlike many other server books out there, this one has no optical media, so no edu version of Os X server apparently either!
I have several other Apple Pro titles by Peachpit and I find it strange that of all the titles to have no optical media it is this one! The Logic Pro book even has some content on disc.
