Great album, check out all of her material,

Great album. Katie and her trio is even better live if you can catch her in your area. We've been lucky enough to have seen her several times over the past couple of years. Her album can best be described as whimsical with depth. Katie and her trio are not to be missed, and many of our most memorable songs performed live come from this studio album. This one along with her live album of the trio have to be one of the most under-appreciated albums on my list of favorites.

My first encounter with Katie Herzig was on a sampler with "Hologram" on it. That track convinced me to buy the entire album, and so I did.Though "Hologram" still holds a treasured place in my heart as introducing me to this phenomenal artist, I cannot say with such certainty that it is the best on this album. "Forevermore" has actually stolen my heart with its catchy, upbeat hooks, and the folksy nature of it makes the song quite ingratiating. "I Will Follow" combines a few of Ms. Herzig's greatest folk aspects and her lyrical prowess to make a smooth and clean sounding song, with crisp and tasteful musical accompaniment. And I could go on and on about each track. Truly this is one of those rare albums where every single song is absolutely gorgeous. Each track is expertly arranged for a folk like smoothness and cleanness, yet Herzig also hits on the visceral nature of folk music along with the cleanness, connecting strongly with the listener.

There's just something about it...,

I just cannot help but like this album. Sure, there are a couple of songs that I'm not fond of but for the most part, I find the work very touching and provocative. There are faster "happy" songs like Forevermore and I Want To Belong To You that automatically make me start dancing and smiling whenever they pop up in my playlist. Others, like Shovel and (especially) I Hurt Too are the more provocative type... you know the kind, the ones that when you are alone you close your eyes and sing along passionately at the top of your voice. Overall, there is just this wonderful simplicity to the songs that elicit genuine emotions when you listen to them and it is an album where my appreciation for it grows each and every time I listen to it. I think anyone who generally likes the singer/songwriter style of music could appreciate the clarity of her voice and the quality (and variety) of her songs.

Fun, but a bit too quirky at times,

Fun stuff Katie....some of the songs drive me bonkers, like circus music or something...but fun. I'm probably more of a fan of your Newcomer's Home stuff. Used to see you guys all the time at the Boulder Theatre when I lived out in Colorado and knew Tim and Andrew from Flatirons Church.
