Simple, but cool and functional,
This review is from: Apple iPod 6-Sock Set for iPod nano 1G, 2G; iPod mini; iPod 3G, 4G, 5G, 5.5G, 6G (Electronics)
When I first saw the Apple iPod socks advertise on Apple.com during the Fall of 2004, I knew I had to have them. "Wow. Six colors, a non-bulky way to protect my iPod, and did I mention cool?"
In fact, I thought the iPod socks would become intoxicatingly popular, and I expected sellouts and the likes. Unfortunately for Apple, although they have a following, the iPod socks do not seem to be on the top of every iPod owner's buying list. However, I love my iPod socks. I slide my click wheel iPod into the sock of my choice, and I can rest knowing that whether it is sitting on my desk, in my pocket, in the car, or on the table, that it won't get scratched or banged around. Furthermore, the many colors give me a choice to fit my mood. I also slide my ear buds and iTrip into a sock, and it keeps those items tidied up. The socks are incredibly soft, and they are just the right thickness. They are thick enough to provide some protection, but they add very little thickness to the iPod, which is nice. I don't like the big bulky cases. Overall, I'm happy I paid $30 for my iPod socks. For me, it is the coolest accessory out there, and it is an official Apple product!

I think it was maybe a bad idea for Apple to call these socks. Maybe cozies would have been a better choice? Anyway these little things are a lot of fun and practical for certain iPod users. Which ones? Well, if you're the type of person who starts your iPod playing then tosses it in a bag or pocket, then the iPod Socks are the perfect thing to get. They will keep your iPod free of scratches and dings, yet add the smallest fraction to your iPods dimensions. Remember these things are tiny. They measure only 2 inches across and 4.5 inches long. When your iPod is in one it is very snug yet easy to take out.
Another great use for the iPod Socks is storage. After turning the iPod off and setting it to 'hold', quickly pull the sock on and toss the newly sheathed iPod in a drawer, purse, locker, wherever and have no fear of scratches or dings. I keep one sock on my desk, one in the car, one in my backpack and another on my bedside table. Wherever I take my iPod there is a sock to put it in when I'm done listening. And don't forget that it's very easy to skip songs, pause and turn the iPod off while it is still in the sock. The fabric is snug enough that you can use these controls right through the sock! One more thing, I hear people saying the iPod Socks are expensive, but I think they forget you're not getting 1 sock but 6 of them in a box. Think of that for a second. Six iPod cases for 30 bucks. Sounds like a steal to me.

Better than many cases,

When I first saw the iPod Socks introduced I thought it was a silly but interesting idea for a case. I wasn't planning on buying them and didn't give it a second thought. When I saw one of my friend's iPod with an iPod Sock and actually played with them I realized that they're really cool. It's one of those things where you have to see to believe. I've had mine for a few days now and love them. Nice part is on all the iPods you can easily use the buttons (except the scroll wheel), even the 3G iPods, though it takes a little bit more effort witht that model.
