This is very disappointing. It's huge, cumbersome, and uncomfortable. The worst part is that it's not elastic at all - just a hard rubberized canvas strap - so if you actually put it around your arm, it's alternately too loose and too tight as your arm muscle flexes just during a normal range of motion.
Plus, locating your Shuffle on your arm for jogging or running is just a bad idea. The cord ends up dangling and flapping around too much, getting in the way. I bought this for running after getting new running shorts that didn't have pockets. I ended up switching to a belt clip to hold it to my waistband. Much, much better!

Would not recommend for hardcore workouts,

The armband works great, keeps the Shuffle in place, and is small and lightweight. If you plan on doing light workouts, such as walking or hiking, this armband should work fine for you.
However, if you plan on doing strenuous workouts where you may be sweating a lot, I would not recommend this armband. The Ipod Shuffles are becoming known for malfunctioning when they get slightly wet, and this armband does not protect against moisture. I had 2 Shuffles malfunction before I found out that there is a known problem with sweat destroying the players. I would recommend the XtremeMac armband instead.

Beware of Sweat!,

This review is from: Apple iPod Armband for shuffle 1st Generation (Gray) (Electronics)
Ever since the summer started, I've had nothing but problems with my iPod Shuffle. In the middle of a long run, it would just die or some of the controls like the volume buttons would stop working. It's been driving me crazy!
I was planning to return it to Apple until today when I discovered the culprit. Sweat. The Shuffle is apparently very sensitive to sweat, and this armband (the only one officially offered by Apple) doesn't protect it from your body's sweat. The armband was designed so that when the Shuffle sits in it, the On/Off switch presses directly against your skin. Thus, it's absorbing your sweat. But an even worse flaw is this: To place the Shuffle into the armband, you must remove its USB cap and snap it into a reservoire below the armband. Well, that reservoire fills up with sweat! It's a horrible, horrible design. Otherwise, I was really happy with this armband before the summer began and I started to sweat more. It looks nice, it holds the Shuffle firmly in place and it fits snugly on my arm. I'd highly recommend it for walkers or people doing light workouts that don't cause much sweat. But if you're a serious runner, skip this product and buy one of the sportier armbands that fully enclose the Shuffle and protect it from your sweat.

This is a must have accessory for anybody who works out with an iPod Shuffle. It fits the Shuffle perfectly and is a perfect solution to clip secure it. Ofcourse it looks cool too with Shuffle clipped on.
It may look like its overpriced but sometimes you gotta pay for the cool looks and ease of use. Don't we all like and overpay for designer items or fancy cars? Very good gift item for someone who already own an iPod Shuffle!

This armband is awesome. I bought it to use with my shuffle at the gym, and although I was skeptical at first, I'm so glad that I made the investment. It's lightweight, doesn't slip around no matter how sweaty I get, and best of all: it fits my arm. Like many other women, the iPod armband was too big (and bulky) to comfortably fit my arm. The shuffle band gets small enough to fit a kid, but I've also seen big guys at my gym wearing it, too. It also leaves the shuffle controls conveniently available and close at hand during a workout. There's no more tricky scrolling through music on my iPod or fiddling with the shuffle while it bounces around my neck while hoofing it on the treadmill. I can even wear the armband while I strength train with weights. It's flexible and doesn't constrict my bloodflow. The shuffle band rocks and is totally worth the $$.
I initially hesitated to buy this armband since it was a third of the purchase price of the shuffle itself. But I decided to go ahead and splurge and just consider it a part of the package price of the shuffle. I bought the shuffle specifically to use at the gym and thought of it this way: a good pair of sports headphones is going to cost about $30, a good jog bra costs about $30,a good pair of gym shoes costs a heck of a lot more than that, etc. If you're serious about getting or staying fit, and you bought the shuffle to help make time at the gym or on the pavement a little less heinous, then this armband is another accessory that's worth the price. I don't see a lot of people whining about the cost of the other accessories that they buy for the same reasons.

OK, so it costs 1/3 as much as the IPOD. But unlike most cute little workout-related stuff, it does work as advertised.
I do some pretty hard aerobics and weights, and the armband works great. The neoprene doesn't slide, and it doesn't absorb sweat. I have never had a problem with the IPOD falling off or falling out of the socket on the armband. In short, it works as advertised. Wish it was cheaper, but it isn't.

When you buy Apple, you pay for the marketing,

OK, the product is fine. I don't have to hold my I-pod when I run anymore, which is nice. And the armband stays on fairly well. But it is kind of a pain to put on at times, and more than that - it's totally overpriced considering what it actually does. Look at all the Ipod accessories - they're priced with a margin the rivals bottled water.
When I bought the armband, I was annoyed but not yet angry. A couple of weeks later, I bought the ear buds: $40 for headphones that fall out of my ears every 15 seconds. The problem - Apple emphasizes "style" over design. They're pricing based on Marketing, not on value. And I, for one, am totally done buying anything but their core products - and even for core products, will only buy after thorough research and testing.

How could Apple design such a perfect portable music player and then put their name on this crap??? Way too small, terrible velcro dots that rarely match up, and made of material that MIGHT last a week before it breaks. And the price? Are you kidding me? I returned this and got the Speck armband - much better!!!

A Terrible Product,
This review is from: Apple iPod Armband for shuffle 1st Generation (Gray) (Electronics)
The method used to secure the Ipod to the band is horrible. After 20 minutes of activity (jogging), the piece that accepts the usb end came loose, sending my ipod to the ground. A terrible product. Apple is only concerned with "artistic" styling at the expense of actual function.

Typically stylish Apple product, but provides little protection for the Shuffle and, when knocked against gym equipment (as I did the third time I wore it), is likely to disintegrate on contact.
