A Musical Genius
Say you're listening to a song you really like and want to hear other tracks that go great with it. The Genius Playlist feature finds the songs in your music library that go great together and makes a Genius Playlist for you. It's like having your own highly intelligent, personal DJ.

Find Your Music Faster
It's even easier to find the song you want to hear. Now you can view your album art in Cover Flow. Or just press and hold the Center button to browse by album or artist. When you find the right song, press the Center button to add it to your on-the-go playlist.

Rock and Roll Over
Tilt or turn iPod nano on its side, and you'll listen, watch, and play in new ways. You can flip through your album art with Cover Flow. Or, vertically speaking, see more albums and artists on the screen at one time.

Shake Your Groove Thing
Sometimes, we could all use a little unpredictability. And now you can shake to change your music. Just give iPod nano a shake, and it shuffles to a different song in your music library. You'll always be surprised by what you'll hear.

Let the Games Begin
Now you can get in on games made especially for iPod nano and the accelerometer. They respond to the way you move, so they're immersive, addictive, and a blast. The iPod nano comes with Maze, which lets you work your way through vast mazes by tilting and moving. You can find even more games on the iTunes Store.

Even Your Photos Rock
Pull hundreds of photos from your pocket and share them wherever you go. Hold iPod nano upright and see your photos in portrait view. Turn the player on its side to see them in landscape. Your photos look beautiful in their proper aspect ratio on the vibrant, 320-by-240-resolution display.

The World's Biggest Small Screen
Watching movies, TV shows, and videos is big fun on iPod nano. And the high-resolution picture looks crisp and vivid on the 2-inch widescreen display. So you can always have a little video with you.

Review from Wired.com: 4th Gen iPod nano -- We Want Our Square Form Factor Back!
Read the full 4th Gen iPod Nano review at dpreview.com
Here's a hard truth: Even if Apple decided to carve its new nano out of petrified poo and bless it with a Braille display, the interface alone would still make Cupertino's latest flash-based music player leagues better than the competition. So what's our opinion of the new nano? Well, it's just like the old nano, just a little roomier (fine) and shaped like an airfoil (weird). This new aerodynamic form doesn't seem to have any discernible functional purpose, but the Triscuit-shaped nano had some distinct advantages over this new 4th gen model: It was a better piece of fitness gear, fitting more comfortably into sporty armbands and the tiny pockets so common to the backs of running shorts. The old screen orientation also allowed you to control video content more intuitively, though the new elongated shape is better for navigating long playlists. Sure, that’s a decent upgrade--as is the price-to-gig ratio--but unless you absolutely need to shake-to-shuffle (spazz) or will be building an airplane out of iPods (paging Mr. Branson), the best thing about the new nano is how flooded eBay’s gonna be with cast-off 3rd gen models. I finally decided to upgrade from my iPod mini that I bought 4+ year ago. I put this new nano on my old iPod charger, and I get a message saying that this accessory is not supported and my nano will not charge. It is an Apple accessory! All because it is old doesn't mean I should have to buy a new one and let Apple have their way before I can have some battery usage or go on vacation! This nano also fails to charge on a dock that I have, limiting the amount of time that it will play on the speakers.

This is nonsense. Had I known, I would have never bought another one of Apple's products.

I love my new iPod! It's exactly what was expected from the online description, well packaged through the mail and in expected timeframe. I've downloaded some favorite music, accessed iTunes via laptop and have listened to it in my car. If it wasn't for my son who has a black or grey iPod, I wouldn't have a clue what to do. I just wish I was efficient as he is performing various functions on it. I would recommend this item to anyone, even my daughter who is 10 years old can listen and adapt the iPod to her music style. Best recommendation: learn to use the lock; purchase a cover sleave for protection and have a teenager teach you the basics.

She is 11, she doesn't really ask for things for her birthday she never has. But I chose this for her and she was so excited when she opened it. She was almost in tears. So we downloaded all her CD's on it and she says that its really easy to use and has it all figured out.

I purchased the Pink nano of this model two months ago and here is my review. I upgraded from an 8GB Red 3rd Generation nano to the 16GB Pink 4th Generation nano because I completely ran out of space on my 8GB one. The most obvious difference is the design, the 4th Gen is much longer than the 3rd Gen one, which really wasn't an issue with me. For the most part I like my new nano except for a few things. First off, battery life is terrible. After listening to only a couple of hours of music the battery is already half used up. I have to charge it all the time. The 3rd Gen nano def held a charge for much much longer. Another thing I have an issue with is that the 4th Gen nano will no longer charge on my iHome. I don't know what or why Apple did this but the new nanos won't charge on older iHomes, which I think is ridiculous because I'm not going to go out and buy brand new equipment just because Apple slightly changed the charging design, but it does still play music from the ipod, it just won't charge it while it's on the the iHome. Before anyone says anything, yes I already knew that the 4th Gen nano is not supported on my iHome, but I bought it anyway. The last thing I don't like is that the "shake" feature is a little too sensitive. A few times I forgot to lock it and I went to put my ipod into my bag or pocket and I guess it shook and it went into shuffle mode, which was a little annoying as I had to go back and find my song.

The things I do like are that it's very light and it comes in lots of colors to pick from. Unfortunately Amazon does not sell it in Red, only the Apple store does, so I bought it in Pink instead to try to match my red earbuds.

I never thought I needed an iPod (who actually NEEDS one?), but I saw this one-year-old iPod was on sale for $139, and my daughter convinced me I should buy it. I LOVE IT. I am a senior citizen and I walk over 2 miles every morning. I was borrowing books on CD from my library and using a fanny pack to carry a portable CD player to listen to the books while I walked. My daughter explained that I could download the books onto the iPod and then I would only have to carry the tiny iPod in my pocket instead of the fanny pack. She was right! With 16 gb, I can download a TON of books and music (using iTunes), with plenty of room to spare. Now I borrow the books on CD, download them, and return the CD books to the library quickly so someone else can use them. AND my cute little iPod is pink!! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!

I believe the ipod nano's are great tons of memory and the shake option instead of having to touch the buttons to change a song is awesome. Not silly at all. I have never owned any of the other Ipod products before so this little nano i believe is a gift from god compared to other MP3 players. They are also pretty durable as well considering i take mine to the gym and it also gets banged around in my purse, ha so im not the nicest of owners. lol After all that the screen isnt scratched and everything works perfectly fine! Best chunk of money i have spent! I totally recommend it!

Ipod was defective, needed it that evening for a gig as an accessory in our mixer and couldn't wait for a replacement in the mail. I had to pay for one replacement at the APPLE STORE down the street. When explaining the situation to AMAZON, they told me basically and rudely "too bad, you should have returned it". If I had done so... we couldn't have done the gig! AMAZON DOES NOT HAVE ANYWHERE TO COMPLAIN TO! I don't buy much from AMAZON any more. I bet this never makes it to the review after it is reviewed by AMAZON.
