Good protection, but "heavy",

This review is from: Apple iPod Sport Case for shuffle 1st Generation (Electronics)
I bought the Shuffle Sport Case mostly to provide some protection from the elements when running outdoors or on the beach. For this goal, it works great. The seal it provides around the Shuffle is tight, and I can't see rain or sand getting into it without some serious effort. That said, the case is heavier than I expected. That's not to say that it's particularly heavy, but when switching from using the Shuffle with the included lanyard to the Sport Case, there's a noticiable increase in weight. This isn't a deal-breaker, as it still serves its purpose, but I don't think I'll be using the Sport Case full time like I expected due to this issue. Part of the appeal of the Shuffle is that it is so light that you don't even know you've got it on. That isn't true when it's in the Sport Case.

Great for activities outside in the elements,

With the rainy weather that Southern California has been having lately, I wouldn't have dared to bring my tunes along when I run. That was until I got an iPod Shuffle and the Sport Case. I usually run with my Shuffle attached to my arm with the Armband accessory. But with all the rain we've been having, that wouldn't have worked out that well. I picked up the Sport Case and have taken it on a few rainy runs. Let me say that my Shuffle goes through even some heavy downpours staying nice and dry. There is a rubber gasket sealing the two halves together. There is even a gasket in the headphone jack port. The seals are pretty tight - it will keep out most water (unless you try to go swimming or something!). The unit even comes with a short headphone cord extension if, like mine, your normal headphone jack is a right-angle jack (like the extension that comes with the Sony MDR-EX71).
If your like me and have to do activities in the rain sometimes, and really want to listen to your favorite tunes, pick up a Shuffle along with this handy little Sport Case.

A Very Useful Accesorie, Might Just Save You $100-$150,

I had dropped my iPod shuffle in the sink. If I had not just purchased the fancy and stylish sports case, I would've been doomed to the fate of blaming the dirty dishes for the desctruction of my iPod shuffle. The ads don't lie, it seriously water-proofs your ipod shuffle. Sure, because the controls are still available it gets a TEENSY wet, but not enough to make it sputter out into un-usable land. A great accesorie, get it before its too late.

The iPod Shuffle Sport Case is a great looking case with a very good protection for sports environments, expecially working out, both at the gym as well as outdoors.
This is a great case, it adds a nice touch of orange color as a frame to your suffle, with a tough transparent cover to the device (it does not scratch that often). The case is very tightly closed so that it does not allow water to get in (not necessarily to do scuba, but it does handle light to mid rain and sweating very well). It is very light and I find it a much better solution for jogging, walking an trekking than arm bands. The headphone cables are not moving in front of you and your hands and arms have freedom of movement. I have owned mine for about 10 months now and it hasn't got any major scratches ( and I have not babysitted it) , works wonderfully and has served me well while I walk fast in the road or at the treadmill.

Poor Extender Cable Quality,
This review is from: Apple iPod Sport Case for shuffle 1st Generation (Electronics)
I LOVE my shuffle for running, because unlike any other device I have run with, it doesn't skip and it's small and lightweight. However, I HATE earbuds. Every time I try to run with the earbuds that Apple provides they fall out and I don't really like the feeling of having something in my ear. So I prefer to use my own headphones when using the shuffle. When I bought this case, I was looking for something to protect my shuffle. It does seem to be heavier than the shuffle itself, but it is essentially water-tight and makes me feel more comfortable running with my shuffle, especially in the rain. The added weight in my mind is even a plus, because it helps to anchor the shuffle when you are running. If you choose to use your own headphones with the shuffle, the case comes with an extender cable to allow you to plug in your own headphones. When I was running last week, the extender cable shorted and I was only able to hear music out of my left ear. Thinking it may be the headphones, I plugged in a separate set of headphones with the same results. Then I plugged the headphones into my shuffle and could hear out of both ears. Deciding it was the extender cable, I took the case to the Apple Store and they gave me a new one even though I didn't have a receipt (Apple's customer service is the reason for my giving this product four stars instead of three), but the extender cable is still flimsy and I can't help but feel that it will only be a short time until this shorts out as well. Considering Apple doesn't sell these cables separately, I would recommend that you either use the earbuds that come with the shuffle to use this product (or find a set of headphones that will fit in the small hole designed for the headset) or take VERY good care of your extender cable. I only had my case for a few weeks before it broke.

Great Protection for Your Shuffle,
By

If you like to wear your IPod shuffle around your neck, you can't go wrong with this sport case. It covers the entire shuffle in a hard plastic case; and it includes a sturdy "lanyard" so you can wear it around your neck. I wear my shuffle at the gym and this is perfect for that. I don't have to worry about the lanyard breaking, getting the shuffle wet or dropping it on the floor.

Essential accessory,

I got the shuffle because I wanted to listen to music whilst I jogged and my iPod would skip after 20 minutes. Plus when it rained I had to give up thoughts of having music with me.The shuffle sorted my issues of skipping (and the fact that all my music is in AAC format). The case sorted my need for weather proofing. It is beautifully designed in hard impact resistant plastic, that holds the shuffle snuggly in place. A rubber seal ensures protection from the elements. All controls are accessible. Twin locks prevent accidental opening. An extension lead allows all headphones to fit whilst maintaining integrity of seal. And despite what others have said, it adds b..ger all to the weight or dimensions. Only problem worth mentioning is that the lanyard cannot be removed. No big issue, and at least I cannot lose it I suppose. In short... essential accessory.

I read all the reviews before I bought this sport case, which made me buy it ... But after using it, you can no longer not be an Apple fan... Once again Apple over exceeds our expectations with this outstanding case.. I use it even when working-out with weigh-lifting.
Excellent item... buy it... you will need it!

Great protection, but heavier than expected.,
This review is from: Apple iPod Sport Case for shuffle 1st Generation (Electronics)
Don't get me wrong. The case does its job. Very sturdy, very cool... it protects the shuffle great. It is a bit heavier than expected. Another review mentioned a noticeable difference before the case and with the case. That's true. The weight is noticeable. I'll use it when I work out/go running, or when I am travelling. The rubber pad that protects the wheel click makes it harder to click. By this, I mean that you have to put in a little extra effort when you push the buttons, a noticeable difference from the ease of the button without the case. It's a neat product,.... I was hoping to always have it on... but I don't think I'll be doing that now.

The iPod Shuffle is a sporty, truly wearable and less expensive alternative to the bigger, more delicate-looking iPod Nano and Video. This case provides excellent protection from the elements, but at $30 it costs over 1/4 of what the Shuffle costs; a little high priced (I believe others just as protective can be found at a lower price than this one), but a good case all the same.
