3.0 out of 5 stars lasted 4 months
It was okay to use. Easy to load music, but lasted only 4 months before it died. My MP3 player was $20.00 less and still working fine.

I won't buy another one.

I've long thought about buying an iPod, but the price always held me back. When Apple recently lowered the price of the shuffle, I jumped. But I did spend a little extra and buy the 2 GB model. I mean, for $20 more, who wouldn't?

This model actually allows you to input 1.89 Gigs of music. Why the difference? Because the iPod needs some space for the software. Depending on the size of the songs, that translates to roughly 500 songs. The first time around, I got 498 songs on it, and I had three 11 minutes song included. I just reloaded and got 528 songs on. I did use a different computer (although it had to erase everything because it only connects with one computer at a time), but it looked like it grabbed shorter songs this time.

The iPod comes with everything you need to get started. You've got the device itself, the ear bud headphones, and the docking device. You use this device to connect your iPod to your computer. While connected, you can load songs from iTunes and charge the device.

And that's one of the weaknesses of the device (and Apple in general). You can only load songs from their music player. Fortunately, anyone can download iTunes from Apple for free, so that isn't an issue. But it would be nice if it worked with other programs. Additionally, you must plug it into a computer to charge it.

Loading songs is pretty straight forward. You can either create a play list for it to load or have it load up random songs.

The device is small and lightweight. But what I love is the build in clip that allows you to attach it to any article of clothing. I bought it mainly to use while running or working out. It's perfect for that. Just clip it and forget about it. And, at half an ounce, it is so lightweight you don't even notice it.

The controls are well laid out and easy and obvious to use.

My biggest complaint is one I knew I would have before I bought it. If you've put one song on the iPod and decide that is the one you really want to hear, good luck finding it. There is no screen. You can tell it to play in shuffle or in playlist order. But you have to skip tons of songs to find the one you want.

The battery lasts about 12 hours. And with 500 songs, you get over 30 hours of music. So you really don't need all those songs since you could just pick different songs every time you charge it. The only time it indicates battery strength is when you first turn it one, which seems strange. If you don't check as soon as you turn it off, you might turn it on some time to find it is out of juice.

I also wish the noise level was standardized. I have to adjust the volume on practically every song.

So do you really need the added storage capacity of the 2 GB model? That's for you to decide. But if you just want something to play a few random songs for you while you do other things, this is a great model to get.

What's there to say? It's an Apple iPod and works just fine. Price was right and it arrived almost immediately although I used the "free" shipping option.

4.0 out of 5 stars good little ipod for your money!, May 14, 2010
This review is from: Apple iPod shuffle 2 GB Green (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL (Electronics)
I have one of these in purple, and I just have to say that it's a nice little ipod, if you are on a budget this is a perfect fit for you or your child. I also have a nano, so of course I miss the screen in this one, but I basically got it to play some tunes as I jog or clean the house through my idog speaker, so I wasn't always burning the battery of my nano. If you want the screen or video capability, don't buy this one, because it doesn't have those features, and you will be dissapointed, but as far as joggers and workout related, it's PERFECT for that type of job!

This is a great little iPod. The sound quality is better than I expected for such a low price. The only thing that is a little disappionting is there is no screen. However I already knew this, but chose to buy it anyway. All in all, a great little iPod!

I decided to purchase the "old style", ipod shuffle green model before there no longer available. If you want a nice compact with less frills, this one will do the job. I think the older shuffle modle looks best and is very easy to clip to your shirt without any added weight or if you decide, you could just attach and wear it on a iPod shuffle arm band. The music is easy to download from iTunes as I already have the iPhone, 3GS model but I dont't care to take it with me and have a big iPhone around my arm or in my pocket when going to the gym. This shuffle modle also has a water proof case which you can attach to your swim goggles to swim with. What a great Idea! You have got to get one! This older model is still the best - more compact and has better looks. I hope Apple doesn't decide to get rid of it altogether and just stay with the newer 3rd, 4th generation version. If it looks better and is more compact why get rid of it? I love mine - Buy one before there gone!

5.0 out of 5 stars How do I love thee, Shuffle?, June 22, 2009
This review is from: Apple iPod shuffle 2 GB Green (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL (Electronics)
What is there to say about the iPod shuffle that hasn't already been said in the other 300+ reviews?

So here are the five things *I* like best about it:

It's small and lightweight and goes right into my shirt pocket.
It's inexpensive so if i lose or break it or if it is stolen no big deal.
I can use the controls without looking at it.
It holds just the right amount of music.
Sand doesn't mess it up at the beach.
The charge lasts a long time.

Okay, so that's six.

Anyway, I've had my shuffle for 2 1/2 years and I still love it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very hard to load., February 4, 2009
This review is from: Apple iPod shuffle 2 GB Green (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL (Electronics)
This ipod shuffle had problems. Would not load music. When music was on the ipod, it deleted songs itself? How that happened, I don't know. Earpods are way too big. Had to purchase other earpods for any comfort. Nothing but problems for me. Did not find user friendly. Returned for refund.

2.0 out of 5 stars Watch out for Robert Hines, December 7, 2008
This review is from: Apple iPod shuffle 2 GB Green (2nd Generation) OLD MODEL (Electronics)
I ordered it from Robert Hines, paid $55.99 and he never sent it. I contacted him and got no response, so have contacted Amazon. If my credit card hasn't been credited by Dec. 15th, I'll write to the credit card company and contest the charges. What a hastle. Avoid doing ANY business with Robert Hines on Amazon.com. It can't be worth it!
