So far, so good. I've called Apple a million times already and they picked up the phone within five minutes. They know their stuff and have been patient with me since I am new to the Mac.

The extended protection plan might be a little cheaper directly from Apple but the computer was a little more over there so the total amount was less at Amazon buying from a third party vendor.

When I tried to register this plan, Apple said it had already been used. The box was not sealed in the usual Apple fashion. i.e.:
shrink wrapped. A sticker had been placed over the serial number and when pulled off, removed some of the registration number. Apple worked with me after I sent a copy of my purchase receipt to them and validated the protection plan. Don't know why I received an apparently used Apple Protection Plan, but Apple made it right.

if you want better coverage on you Apple investment you have to have Apple Care. You can call them and get real help for issues if you happen to experience any. Over the years I've only had to call twice and the issues were handled right on the phone - some of those hiding items can creep in and you miss them because they are not found via the website or Internet searches. A must have.
