While this product is exactly what is outlined in the product description, it is NOT what many here have commented about. That is to say, some reviews here are discussing the 'Accidental Damage' feature but this product does not have that feature included. Let me be clear, this is AppleCare Protection Plan (APP) and NOT AppleCare Protection Plan + (APP+). Furthermore, as far as I know APP+ is only available directly from Apple. I have heard you can buy it from select Apple retailers, but have not found it anywhere but on Apples site or in an Apple store. Hope this clears up any misconceptions you may have.

Note: The reason I know this to be true is that I bought 2 of these here on Amazon (Dec.'12). Once I received them, I called Apple only to discover they do not include the Accidental Damage coverage. Unfortunately, I am returning these two and buying them from Apple for a hundred bucks each. Ouch!!!

The following is an excerpt from Apple.com, regarding the AppleCare Protection Plan for the iPad, which can be easily verified on the Apple website page,

    [...]

"For up to two years from the original purchase date of your iPad, the AppleCare Protection Plan gives you direct, one-stop access to Apple's award-winning telephone technical support for questions about using your iPad. And you get hardware repair coverage -- both parts and labor -- on your iPad, its battery, and included accessories."

Some people are stating in their reviews that the plan provides 3 years of protection, which includes user damage. Neither the warranty that comes with the iPad nor the extended warranty covery user damage. The warranties cover defects inherent in the product.

Nevertheless, I think that it is might be a good idea to get the extended warranty under certain conditions, such as the purchase of the 64GB with 3G that gets extensive use, especially for travelers.

When I purchased this product, thought I saved $20. (AppleCare on Apple Store is $99.00) BUT while I was reading other review, I realized that "AppleCare Protection Plan" and "AppleCare+" are different... I made a stupid mistake!!! I should have read a product description well, and spent another $20. Then I could have coverage for accidental damage...

The GOOD: Apple's famous for gold standard customer service. The BAD: This warranty: a) is limited to 2 accidental damage claims with a $49/ea. charge. Compare 5 iPad warranty options at: [...]

APPLE - For $99 you can add AppleCare+ to your new iPad purchase. This enhanced Apple warranty includes hardware failures, battery failures and accidental damage for two years. You also get extended support over the phone and in your local store. If you drop your iPad or it gets wet, you will need to pay a $49 processing fee to get it replaced, and the plan covers 2 accidental damage claims. You must buy AppleCare+ within 30 days of purchasing your new iPad. AppleCare+ does not cover lost or stolen iPads, so if you drop your iPad int he bottom of a lake, you better dive in after it.

SquareTrade - one of the biggest names in aftermarket warranties. For $89 you can get a complete aftermarket iPad warranty option that includes accidental damage, like the drop you saw above. For $89 you can protect your new iPad from drops and warranty issues. Like most accidental warranty options, you will have to pay a $49 deductible if your iPad needs repaired. The SqaureTrade warranty is on sale for the New iPad Launch, with a regular price of $119 for 2 years. You must buy your SquareTrade Warranty within 30 days. SquareTrade promises fast turnaround times. If they can't "provide a solution," within 5 business days they pay for your warranty. It's a better deal if you don't need much hand-holding from tech support.

The newest version of Applecare is "Applecare+". Applecare+ includes the accidental damage coverage. Don't be fooled by the ad speak for this listing!
    [...]

If you buy this you will NOT be purchasing the damage protection/warranty being currently offered by Apple on the new iPad 3.

I have ordered and received AppleCare Protection Plan for iPad in time - used Prime service and received it in 2 days!!!

Registration code worked fine and process to registration for extra warranty coverage was smooth. Now my iPad is covered until 2012!!!

I saved a good amount of money by purchasing AppleCare Protection for iPad from here, instead of Apple store and very happy about it~!

I love the Applecare because it covers hardware issues issues that come up that are wrong with the hardware itself not because your brother's son dropped it that is his fault not Apple's, so I would not expect Apple to pay for it . I have been very happy with the excellent service when I had hardware problems with my iPad they replaced it right away only a very few basic questions asked. Their phone tech support has been worth every penny they are always able to answer my questions and I can go right on my way and continue whereI left off on my iPad. This is an excellent service. I always have questions long after the 90 days has expired. And it is murphy's law that something happens after the 1 year warranty comes up. So I would recommend it.
